As for shooting content: Never did it myself, but I've worked with photographers that did. Standard practice to carry extra bribe money to get out of trouble. Would suck to find the unbribably ones, though...
For the record, prostitution is technically illegal over there, but obviously not enforced.

As a follow up, here's the statistics for HIV among the general population as published in the CIA World Factbook (the previous % was the prostitutes)
US: 0.6%
Brazil: 0.7%
Thailand: 1.5%
