Human life becomes much less precious when there's 7 Billion of them worldwide. Compassion fatigue. I see the faceless masses living in hopeless impoverished squalor and I feel absolutely nothing. A small twinge of regret for the children, but then I realize that they will be reproducing like bunnies in just a few years... continuing the non-sustainable cycle of too many people.. not enough food... ignorance.. ancient religions and social practices.. They are hopelessly trapped in a hopeless cycle. If the the bird flu doesnt get them, then we should just have a war.

I'd really like to see the natural environment have a few generations of relief to recover, see a lot of species come back from the brink of extinction.

Anyone who thinks each individual human life is precious is someone whose own life needs the support of genericity.
