Since this is very recent in history, I can't help but believe that some people, rightly or wrongly, at the time felt that their land was stolen. Whether this qualifies as "whining" is a debate which I will not get into here.
But to sum it up, Israel has been founded in a location where people where already present. That is consequently the cause of their problems today. In France however, it is quite the opposite because those people where invited in as immigrants.
That Sir is the reason why I disagree when you say that France has a small taste of what Israel has to deal with. You may stop rolling your eyes.
