All it takes is C programming skills and reading the protocol papers to rewrite a Gnutella servent to run in Ultrapeer mode so that it logs Querys to file. Running a sniffer to get packets from Limewire sure is a painful way. Of course for Kazaa it's a different story, the protocol encryption is an obstacle

Thanks. If you ever to download a song thinking that was the new U2 song and hear a hizzing sound, well i wrote some of the code to spam the P2P system that is used by a major provider now. So I know what I am talking about.
The problem with P2P networks is that every one is different, just pick the one you want to work with and then look at the layer7 level. Their are some good software that can filter laywer 7 traffic and parse it out, so you do not have to meddle the server.
