If they said "FUBAR" on them that's probably what motivated them to steal them (everybody would want one y'know).
I quit mailing cool postcards, and now put them in an envelope instead, since I figured the sorters at the post office were stealing them.
You might try turning the hats inside out next time you travel, or put a decoy hat on top that says "TSA" or something.
