The competition at this point is dead, and gone. We already had no competition a year ago. They all follow us, copy us, look at us, not the contrary. Two of the sites mentioned above had entire section of MET literally cloned, word, by word. Did clones ever go anywhere in the real World?
I don't think so. Rather than developing a personality of their own (Like a site that I mention below), they try to copy us. It's a loser attitude.
We're not friend with any of them. We heavily helped one of them, years ago, to become a known site, and we were used, and betrayed, hence our new policy of not helping anyone, and staying away from them. We learned our lesson: be nice to someone, and end up screwed. We do have many friends, but not in our niche. Anyway, I think that any copy, or semi copy of MET proved not go anywhere over time. I think that the best MET lookalike sells 4 or 5 times less than us, and the worst around 40 times less. They're not going anywhere, and some of them are losing their share, whereas we grow, and grow, and grow. It all boils down to the offer, and we offer more, and better content at the same price, or less. The other sites features MET-ART rejected photographers. If anything, a photographer wants to be on MET, not anywhere else. We have services that the others will never have. Sure, we had to invest money in them, but it was always the right choice.
I'm pretty sure that you will find out that none can retain customers as well as we do. As you might know, some of them are also likely to make fatal mistakes (Recent P10 threads on GFY), and they seem to make those errors over, and over again. Some are so desperate that they even try to sound like us, and that's a new step that others will follow. No matter what, they're always going to be copies, and have little personality.
The good news is that while they play catch up, we are improving more, and more. We have 2, or 3 new offers coming on the site, and it will take them at least 3, or 4 months to do the same, as it happened in the past.
The only site that still does good (And is not promoted much, and it's a mistake), and never loses sales, despite the old looks (Strangely MET-ART's look is pretty weird too) is the only one that had, and has kept personality, and originality in it: Domai.com. It's driven by a real love for what he does, and the site has a real personality. For me, all the others have no reason to exist, except for a few merits here, and there, but they still do not justify their survival.
