A fully fueled plane traveling at 500 MPH is pretty much equal to a missle and will have the same kind of destructive and disintigrative pattern result upon impact.
I remember when that plane went straight down in Miami a few years ago. It went head first into the ground marshes and after impact you literally couldn't even discern a crash scene had happened the impact force was so obliteratory. Basically nothing was left, just schrapnel like material. It was bizarre, but that's was happens when that much force is applied to solid objects with fuel added also.
This is the ValuJet aftermath. Basically just looks like a charred brush fire and nothing else.
Same thing when you look at Flight 93's crash scene on 9/11. Nothing but a mound of burned dirt really.
