"My Question(s): How many leads to cp are submitted by honest, hardworking legal adult webmasters? Is there a better way for us to submit sites of concern, and possibly have some documented numbers that can be submitted to and/or noticed in some way by our law makers to further support our claims as an industry that we are just as concerned and outraged by cp as they are?"
I can easily, but not quickly answer this. ASACP receives between 5,000 - 6,000 leads per month. Of these, about 1/2 are duplicates or have been report before. We investigate all new leads but only determine that approx 200 are new unique sites with CP..."
The ASACP validated CP reports receive a higher priority from law enforcement.
There are benefits to people in the industry that report CP leads to ASACP - the resulting statistical data. Sorry to be so serious so early in the morning, but this is serious part of what ASACP.
Over the last two years, ASACP has received over 180,000 reports of suspect child pornography sites. ASACP reviews such reports, collects relevant data, and forwards suspected child pornography sites to the appropriate government agencies and associations. These include the FBI and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as well as European hotlines. ASACP data indicates that 99.9% of new, unique verifiable CP reports are attributable to non-adult webmasters and pedophiles hahaha8211; not to professional adult companies. 47% of these sites are hosted by three mainstream Internet Service Providers, principally by one based here in California. Nearly a third use a single mainstream billing company based in Florida.
Our data was further corroborated when I traveled to Belfast this past November, to attend the Virtual Global Taskforcehahaha8217;s conference on Protecting Children Online. The VGT is an international alliance of law enforcement agencies working together to make the Internet a safer place. At the conference, the point was made that most child pornography is distributed by organized crime in former Soviet bloc countries, not by professional adult entertainment companies.
