If I ever have a child (this is very, very unlikely), it will be when I have time enough to raise one (and there's the hitch). the "old enough" weltanschaung is built around the same narrow perspective that leads people to get dead drunk when they turn 21. which is silly, silly, silly.
people are always children and they are always adults. there experiences and actions are the continumm of a very long right now.
pedophilia has nothing to do with age of consent. i don't really know what causes pedophilia (sexual relations with pre-adolescents), but apparently it's sometimes contagious- victims may become pedophiles themselves. although it's the kind of thing that inspires enmity and hate, the enmity and hate don't stop the problem... they help it perpetuate. i wouldn't use the term lightly.
