Is "Terrorism" the new millenium version of Communism

This whole terrorism thing is getting sickening. The witch hunts and the government rhetoric is so saturated it's not even funny. Is it just me or has terrorism become the new buzzword that 'communism' was in the 60s-70s? Everyone is now looking to point the finger at a suspected terrorist just as everyone was trying to find out who was a 'commie' in our country back then. Presidents of both eras vowing to wipe out the evil of communism/terrorism. I can't remember which Senator it was I saw on the news yesterday, but he's blaming the West Nile virus on terrorism. And all this 'how to spot a terrorist' and 'you may be living next door to a terrorist' talk in the media isn't helping. Sounds just like the days of old. And the funny thing is, it seemed the scariest part of Communism to the US was the 'threat' of it and not the actual concept. That's where I see this terrorism thing going -- more focus on the 'cloud' of terrorism that looms above us than the actual cause and potential harm.
