My Xbox only read original CD's... it would't read any of my CD-R's or CD-RW's at all.
Now, I have the Enigmah chip build into it and it reads CD-RW's and DVD-R's!
I buy all games I really like and I check them first on DVD-R.
(One little scratch on a copied DVD and the game will crash!)
