i bet if you sperated out all of the webmasters who make their own stuff from those that only use the premade stuff, that you would see a huge difference in success rate and income.
I understand if someone has a site with 10 sponsors on it and he wants to slap one more banner on the page and move on to something else, he wants something quick to throw up there, but I can guarantee you it is not going to be as effective as if you made one yourself that also took into consideration the theme of your site. That extra couple mins of effort could go a long ways in sales. You can build a banner that matches the look and feel of your site and really captures your surfers attention. I've built entire sites around 1 ad, muchless a custom banner. It definetly works.
