CD, it's not about being "standard" or "different"..... what I said was not a plug for doing a site style similar to many others, (which does still work by the way) but rather a look at the basics of what he's got there. He asked for us to rate his site, and I'm rating it a zero in the design department for specific reasons:

1. Half dozen different type styles that do not compliment each other.
2. Tour background doesn't match page background. (which is fine as long as you weren't TRYING to match it.)
3. Extremely poor shadowing technique. Present in some places, not in others, and none match each other.
4. Low quality export.
5. Bland execution of theme.
6. Miscellaneous images of various resolutions that not only don't support the site, but don't even support each other.
all that's just on the splash page...
also note that nothing I listed has
anything to do with being creative whatsoever. Those are simply basic design fuckups. Which is why I say.... it sucks. All the talk about being different than the norm and whatnot doesn't change the fact that the site is very poorly made.
