You can argue who won WWII until your blue in the face. The Russians sure did take the brunt of it, but they were only fighting against one country on a single front while the US was fighting two wars a world apart (Germany and Japan) on multiple fronts (Africa, France, Italy, Denmark, and all of the Pacific).
