Luckily after 2 years I'm almost done with it. Sure I could of given it to him all at once, but why the hell would I want to do that. Main thing left twisting right now is the loan for the boat. He supposedly has a buyer for it now (after it being on the market for the most of this year). He got the boat in the divorce.. I got the loan.. so with the boat sold, the loan goes away but the liability doesn't. I just owe him..not the bank.
The problem is.. normal people would be paying it out over the life of the loan just the same.. so that's like another 11 years. Who wants to do that if they don't have to. I want a lump sum payment arranged to finish it all over and be done with him completely so he can drop of the face of the earth. He of course wants the full amount, but attorney says I should get a fair-sized discount for payment in advance.
Long story.. but I'm not putting my name to paper to sign off on the sale until the money issue is all settled.
Word to the wise... either don't get married or set up housekeeping with someone in a state that recognizes common law marriage.. or GET A PRENUP!
