I think adult used to drive innovation. Recently, I don't think that's the case.

I also don't consider SEO spam, email spam, and creating thousands of doorway pages innovation. I don't consider hundreds of sites by different companies that all look the same innovation. I don't consider a TGP / MGP as innovation, now; the first one was, perhaps, innovative, but the constant rips of them aren't.

And if we're talking about new technology as innovative; what has adult done? I've seen a few adult mobile sites that are absolute pieces of crap compared to mainstream mobile sites. How many adult companies are utilizing web services like many mainstream companies are? How many adult companies know what web services entail? Want to talk about blogs? What person in adult is using an innovative piece of software to separate themselves from all other adult blogs? RSS - adult companies were far behind the curve in implementing that technology to disseminate their product.

Yes, this post comes off as critical of the adult industry as a whole. So be it. In my own opinion, I haven't seen innovation in adult for a few years; rather a rehash of what someone else has done.

Show me a website that's doing something cutting-edge, a fresh look and feel, a site using web services to open up their content as a real plugin for other sites (not an iframe); those are the things that I consider innovative. A new teen site with a 640x480 thumb with twelve 128x96 thumbs under it is not innovation.
