Surely to heaven, when someone comes out of nowhere and offers you more than other buyers, it should be a warning signal. But in any case, is every short-term cent so f*cking important that you can't stick with a list of tested and proven buyers? Apart from avoiding this kind of situation, yours isn't a fly-by-night business, so would it be so damn terrible to have a fixed tariff for your exits, making it easier for regular buyers to work with you?
