It comes down to making money for people. Lets face it, you can be the coolest guy on the boards, buy everyone drinks at shows, help baby seals from being clubbed, but if your shit doesn't make webmasters money, you'll be out of business soon.
Whether you like them or not, if they make people money, people will continue to use them. I can't stand a lot of shit Google does, but there is no fucking way I'm going to drop Adsense from my mainstream sites in favor of YPN and make less money.
