    How would you start looking for someone?

    You have their DOB and Name and they where last seen in 1977 in Australia - That's all you have...

    He has a common name as well - Its been impossible...

    What would you do?

              If you have more info like the city where he was seen and assuming you know he lived there try searching things like obituaries and death notices plus other public records. The obituaries are not so much useful only if he died but also if he had kin who died where they list him as a survivor. That could then give you relative info or his current city.

                      I usually start with https://pipl.com/ although I've only searched for people in the US, I don't know how well it works outside.
                      It's all about narrowing down the possibilities, having a DOB and a location can be a big help.
