Looking For Some Mainstream Pricing Info

I hope I can get some solid feedback with this here as I have been writing porn blog content for the past couple of years (hundreds, if not thousands of posts) and because of my reputation I have been asked to write some content for a mainstream site. This could turn into more mainstream, but I don't have a clue about what the going rate is for mainstream writing.

Anyone here have any experience with? Is there a 'per word' cost and if so, what is the going rate?

This looks to start with 300 - 500 words for the first/home page and then 100 words per product on the product pages. I don't know how many products so this could take some time.

If anybody has got any solid input on this, I would really appreciate it if you care to share.

    Thanks in advance . . .

Companies I work for pay freelancers $750 for a 3 page article for industry trade magazines.
An average blog post should fetch up to $300

Really, the price is determined by your reputation and results. I have never heard of anyone paying "per word", perhaps if you are Sugarman you can get that. The rest of the world just gets set payments for expected content length.

You can try looking at Mechanical Turk www.mturk.com and see what they are paying for blog post. Might be a good place to make industry contacts.

Every "per word" writer I ever dealt with was crap. So much fluff it was not funny.

Most writers (through forums and such) charge ~$2-$4/100 words. Increases as experience/specialization increases.
