    Affordable rate for good laptop?

    Whats the a good laptop costing in the US right now? I would prefer something with 20-40 GB HD, 128 MB RAM, P3-500 or above. I'm thinking of going on a vacation and would like to carry my online work with me (gallery making and stuff) and also be able to use Photoshop and play a few games (the likes of Quake3). Which one would you suggest and at what cost? It should also allow me connection to a normal dialup internet, so it has to have a modem or something.

    btw what kind of internet connections are available for people vacationing with laptops?

      I bet you could get one for $1000 or less. As far as connections when traveling, if you use a national ISP like AOL or MSN they might have a number for where you are going. If not, you might want to try using NetZero since it's free.

              The majority of better hotels in the states have a comp room now with the net. I have to travel from time to time each year and haven't found one without yet. Just remember to dump the cache etc. lol Some have terminals in rooms for a charge, others have connections for laptops in the rooms too. Gotta ask at the desk or ahead if you make reservations tho!

                      BestBuy have some great deals...I've been keeping an eye open on burners in advertisments and they have some good deals on lap'ies.

                      Theres one deal like "get $400 off when you subscribe to MSN for 3 years"..I'd stay away from those offers lol

                          i would stay away from bestbuy, or any other store.. just go there to play around on laptops if ya want, but best bet is to buy off the net like off of dell or gateway, u pay for shipping, but save on tax.. i picked up my lappy for 2100 about 6 months back, only had to pay the 80$ for shipping but saved alot because i didnt have to pay tax on that 2100
