Is democracy the way to go in long run?

Can a democratic society achieve net gain? Is a democratic society efficiently run? Look at the US and look at Singapore... such a big difference...

Democracy = Capitalism
And Capitalism means that some are rich because others are poor. And secondly Capitalism is consumption, more and more consumption. I guess in 50 years this model will come to an end. With China and India on the rise, and weather worsening, there will be a shortage of food in the following decade. Following that there will be a shortage of drinking water, and then gasoline.

Well, the first thing you need to do is get your shit straight.

The USA is not now, nor has it ever been a "democracy", so go do your homework, find out what it is; then and only then can you even begin to make a rational and informed assesment.

Democracy = 2 wolves and a lamb voting about what to have for diner.
Democracy = A system that has elections every now and then to justify crimes against people living within certain artificial and arbitrary borders.
Democracy = a system that eventually turns into corporatism (a system where to rich and corrupt use the power of the State to exploit the rest).

The only ethical way: Anarcho-Capitalism = Pure Capitalism = Austro-Anarchism = The Free Market = Voluntary Association = Human Cooperation = Voluntaryism = The Natural Order = Natural rights Based Market-Anarchism = Rational Rights Based Market-Anarchism.

Democracy is like a Communism - a Christmas tale for infantile adults. This is just a fine word, but nothing more.

I predict some sort of half monkey half chicken human hybrid coming out of the works and instilling a facist regime of mutant monkeys who will rule the world with an iron fist.

You heard it here first, bank on it.

If you don't like democracy then what do think is the right way to go? The United States is not and has never been a democracy it is in fact a republic

A Democracy is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man.

This is true whether it be a Direct Democracy, or a Representative Democracy. In the direct type, applicable only to a small number of people as in the little city-states of ancient Greece, or in a New England town-meeting, all of the electorate assemble to debate and decide all government questions, and all decisions are reached by a majority vote (of at least half-plus-one). Decisions of The Majority in a New England town-meeting are, of course, subject to the Constitutions of the State and of the United States which protect The Individual?s rights; so, in this case, The Majority is not omnipotent and such a town-meeting is, therefore, not an example of a true Direct Democracy. Under a Representative Democracy like Britain?s parliamentary form of government, the people elect representatives to the national legislature--the elective body there being the House of Commons--and it functions by a similar vote of at least half-plus-one in making all legislative decisions.

In both the Direct type and the Representative type of Democracy, The Majority?s power is absolute and unlimited; its decisions are unappealable under the legal system established to give effect to this form of government. This opens the door to unlimited Tyranny-by-Majority. This was what The Framers of the United States Constitution meant in 1787, in debates in the Federal (framing) Convention, when they condemned the "excesses of democracy" and abuses under any Democracy of the unalienable rights of The Individual by The Majority.

A Republic, on the other hand, has a very different purpose and an entirely different form, or system, of government. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individual?s God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution--adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment--with its powers divided between three separate Branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here the term "the people" means, of course, the electorate.

Absolutely correct! It's very hard to find a sane person here on GFY today. Most of people are brainwashed idiots (some morons confuse Italian Mafia and Jewish-Russian organized crime, others confuse democracy and republic etc) As about the USA, so it's a country which still doesn't have a direct election system. What the fuckin' democracy they can speak about?

The same is related to stamps like so-called "freedom of speech" and freedom in whole. It's a fiction. There is no freedom of speech, freedom of religion and even freedom of private live in ANY country of the World! Those who think it's wrong are just idiots on many levels

The only problem is we keep changing the rules and laws.

The only way it will work is if we stick to a strict set of rules as a country.

For example will continue to use the obsolete indirect election system.

According to your point of view, it's even better to let them go and live as separate countries. Why not?

Democracy is about catering to the lowest common denominator. That can never be the foundation of an enduring nation.

I edited my post because they should be like different countries but with some rules that are not changeable.

Like murder, stealing, rape, ect..

I think it's sad how the Constitution gets stepped on everyday.

Do you think each state should govern their own laws?

No I don't. I've just replied to your own post. Actually I'm not a US citizen so I don't really care how exactly you will prefer to live. But if you are asking for my personal opinion from outside your country, I don't understand the idea of States. A solid country must live according to the common law.

i think Singapore has a model which is totally opposite of US's. I wont say many locals are happy with the system... but it does keep the elite group feel secured n happy...

The problem with democracy comes when the majority of the population in said democracy are (to put it mildly) dumb.

When you have a population that has no vision of the future, and are ready to vote for a man that provides them with scraps for today, and no development for tomorrow....

Why is it so important to stall a potentially interesting conversation to argue semantics over something like "Democracy?" It really doesn't make you look intelligent. It makes you look petty and ridiculous. Especially given the United States is always fighting wars to "bring democracy" to other countries.
