yeah Darwin changed gears a bit in his later years because he would find animals like peacocks thriving despite the males having those ridiculous fan tails making them easy prey. He later stated that sex has its role when it comes to evolution as well, if it wasn't for the peacocks fancy looking tail the females wouldn't be as drawn to it, so that gene carries on because of their use of attraction and busy mating capabilities as opposed to their strength and its able to defend itself.
