Last Week
"Last week we saw a white Catholic male Republican judge murdered on his way to greet a Democratic Jewish woman member of Congress, who was his friend. Her life was saved initially by a 20-year-old Mexican-American gay college student, and eventually by a Korean American combat surgeon, and this all was eulogized by out African American President." -- Mark Shields, PBS

You can't rationalize, or emotionalize, the actions of a lunatic. Today, someone else was shot by a crazy person and there were no Catholic friends, Koreans, or gay Mexicans around to help them. There were no news crews to report the incident.
Religion, politics, and sexual orientation are irrelevant. It just makes for tasty sound bites and attention-grabbing headlines. Lunatics do unjustifiable and unexplainable things. Always have, and they always will. And the news networks just fucking love them for it. |
