sales shoyuld be more now than ever

Due to broadband and the fact that millions and millions more people are now on the net (even in poor countries) sales should increase each year.

Have tube sites realy affected sales so much?

With more people on the net, surly that should counter balance those who just use tube sites.

Or is it now the case that there is so much free porn that people no longer find it exciting, and so people have less interest in it.I wonder how many hits in totall the big tubes sites get combined each day. I bet its still only a small % of those who use the net. So do people still want porn?

Search for popular porn keywords on Google. It's all free content. The cheap bandwidth has made it easy to stream porn for free, and sites are just upping the anti, giving more and more away for free. Maybe to get ahead you could mail users a hard drive full of porn free of charge, since hard drives are so cheap now too. I guess you could stick some advertising on the hard drive.

Quoted for the truth and a good idea.

I could send the whole Hard drive for say $500 and watch it being uploaded to Tubes and Torrents daily.

Yes Adam, free is killing the business FOR MOST. It won't kill it entirely but it will continue to reduce incomes all around.

Why buy the cow if the farmer gives away free milk?

The business needs to change and adapt to 2011. Even 2008 would be good. Traffic is no longer King. Sign ups are. And to get them you have to have something people need to pay for.

I think faster speeds actually hurt sales.

Reason being that now the surfer can sift through so much more so much faster to find what he's looking for. (FOR FREE)

Where as before with slower speeds he was more likely to just sign up to a paysite he liked and knew that everything he downloaded would not be a waste of time. (and drive space for that matter)

It's mostly 1st world Countries with credit cards... so a new Country getting wired up today, means little to Porn...unless you can bill in that Country in the methods they bill with. Then the broadband growth in America for about the last 8 years has been outside of major cities. Which statistically already spend less money on services, like the Internet. Then add to that Mobile Internet is cheaper, built in, and better bandwidth than some can get - it creates even more separation.

Free porn is just one of many ways to make money within online porn. Some people can make a killing with it, others have problems making a dime. It's always been that way though.

Really.. don't worry if free porn does or doesn't hurt sales.. just keep creating a better product, building more attraction and work towards expanding to new growing technologies.

Yes they have fucked most of it. But there is still sites doing great and growing. Sad though how they can sleep knowing how many people they screwed over.

If the above arguments were 100% true...I wholeheartedly believe we would see a vast reduction in clicks and visits to join pages.

I see no reduction to tour visits, and join page visits! I see a reduction in bottom line "credits" for sales.

I have a recurring observation that I could provide evidence for.... days where join form hits are maximized....join form submissions seem to get minimized!

days where join form hits are minimized I see maximum join form submissions.

ANY OF YOU EVER HAD THIS WEIRD FEELING THAT NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY WITH YOUR SITE, THERE SEEMS TO BE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY SALES/REBILLS YOU CAN GET DURING CERTAIN INTERVALS???? COME ON ADMIT IT, YOU GUYS ARE OUT THERE WHO HAVE PONDERED THIS!

Now for the astute and awake.... To what end would it be feasible to maximize join form submission percentages... while join form hits are low... and then minimize join form submission percentages while join form hits are high!!????

My theory is based on sound analysis, deep critical thought, some common street/business sense, and a very deep understanding of how bankers operate...along with their mindset.

The first mistake we make is having to pay someone to collect our sales in our absence and trust that they are giving us reliable stats.

You can do all the trusting you want, however in a court of law, you could not present 100% verifiable evidence that you are being paid or credited for every sale you make...without being at the point of sale transaction your self to verify funds collected.PERIOD

Without being there to collect sales from our customers... we are at the mercy of the ones who we pay to collect our funds...(billing companies)

If you think like a shady banker or con artist...then it makes sense to keep the join form submission percentages as high as possible, while keeping the actual sales as low as possible!

This makes sense if you are running a baseline skim, or shave operation. This does get a little complex and would have to be demonstrated in person for it to have stopping power and make you scratch your head and say ..."DAMN you got one hell of a point"

You don't need an accounting degree or business degree to observe repeated unexplainable statistical anomalies with your stats.

A lot of countries are allowing ISPs to impose bandwidth limits, and slow transfer rates of people who download massive amounts of huge files.

I try to target people who don't want to waste time or bandwidth by randomly clicking thumbnails on tube sites, or rolling the dice that the 2GB torrent they just downloaded actually works. While these forms of content distribution dominate the adult industry, I'm pretty sure that the majority of their traffic consists of people who have no intentions of buying porn anyway. Sheer volume makes up for it.

There is a large market of (mostly) older people who do not want to waste time surfing through 20 pages of shitty, generic porn on Tube8 (or whatever) to find the one clip that turns their crank.

Having said that, it IS a bit depressing to see almost every search on Google or Google Insights is keyword tube or keyword torrent.

Read what you just wrote. "And to get them, you need to have something people need to pay for." That's content.

Content is king. Traffic has never been king. Signups are a result of great content, and the traffic that is attracted to said content.
