Photographers: Comfortable seating for shooting?

As I get older, I find myself wishing I had some sort of convenient rolling seating so I'm not constantly standing during long 8 hour shoots. I thought there were some seating solutions for cinematographers, etc that I might find... but I'm not really sure what they're called.

Anyone know if there's something like this, but specifically made for photographers? Or maybe I should just order one of these? Think it might be odd to check into a hotel with one of these? I might need a case for it or something.

Maybe try using a musicians chair? Like, those chairs guitarists use would probably work perfectly.

What is this in reference to? My idea of rolling around on a chair with casters?

No, it's a reference to the photo you posted of shoeless people on set--standing on an apple box, etc. Do you not remember posting the photo? It was only a few replies above my reply... I hope you're not having memory problems: http://motherjones.com/politics/2011...d-lesley-stahl

Well it was meant for humor purposes, not for literal purposes... It's not my image. It was found from a query on Google Images.

I'm not a photographer, but I'm pretty sure that the Freedom Chair would be perfect.

Hey, now that's what I'm talkin' about! Awesome price, too... sweet!

Incredible they can make something virtually identical and call it a "cinematography tool" and suddenly charge 20x more for it.

I have 2 of these in my studio.

And if you add roller blade wheels to them, they are super silent.

Perfect! How much better do the roller blade casters make it? Is it a huge difference?

perhaps time to retire?
an adult photographer shooting from (any) chair is going to miss out on all the good angles.

At one point both Dean and I had 'water on the knee' from shooting... almost impossible to knee and shoot at that time, well fuck that. it is impossible to kneel and shoot with that condition... very very VERY painful. ... we both had to adjust our shooting styles... life goes on...

You know, the camera isn't super heavy but a 7D, 24-70, and PW held for 8 hours mostly against my face can really drain my strength. My back starts to hurt, and my knees definitely hurt...

I'm not talking about just your average shoot. I'm talking about shooting 12 photo sets and an hour of video footage.

i do same, sometimes 15 sets and 3 vids in one day 10 hours.., people dont understand you have to be in good physical shape to be a shooter. often day after my body aches like a really hard workout.
i use a soft foam board for my knees though..
