I saw Avatar in 3D, first 3D I've seen and probably won't see anymore unless it's something I think will really be special in 3D..

That's because most of them are geared towards the adults in context.

Context = adults
Visual = children

i was impressed , i took my daughters to see "tangled 3d" .

When the first 3d movies came out they were overhyped and i had an unrealistic expectation of what i was going to see. then again its been many years

I saw Avatar, Alice in wonderland, green hornet, and yogi bear in 3d. Loved them all.

I'll only see something in 3D if it's created with 3D in mind. I like the whole experience. If the 3D and the visuals are done well it can carry a bad story (Avatar) and not leave you feeling ripped off or disappointed.

If the 3D is added as an afterthought it sucks. Tron wasn't awful, but it isn't worth seeing in 3D. They don't utilize the technology for about a 3rd of the film, and when they do use it they use it poorly. The way they did the 3d is like looking into a shadow box, when they do use it objects are broken into 3 planes, foreground, midground, background. Things feel more like carboard cutouts rather than true 3 dimentional objects.

I haven't seen a ton of movies in 3d, I don't really care for pixar stuff, but the owl movie was fucking amazing-

The story is a little hokey, but the visuals are fantastic. It's directed by Zack Snyder- the guy who did Watchmen and 300, so he really is a master of the CGI medium. I like that these movies are finally starting to get dark again, think the Secret of Nimh if you were an 80's kid. If you've never seen it it's worth the rental. It's pretty slick even in regular HD.

3D or 2D

3D or not depends on the movie. Avatar was worth paying the extra ticket price for 3D. However other 3D movies were not. I recently watched Green Hornet and was satisfied watching it in 2D. I don't think it would have been that much better in 3D.

3D is not so much the stuff flying out at you like the cheesey old day. But super clear, like you are there, type of thing. I went to a fairly new 3D Imax, and the movies comming out look amazing. The new glasses do not hurt your eyes or give you headaches. I mean, not I, maybe still some people.

Well worth it, if you ask me!

i didn't mean that kind of 3D technology - i meant animated movies with 3D character models like Buzz Lightyear and Shrek.

I hate 3d movies. Complete shit. They just add "3d" to the title so they can charge more for the tickets. Films of clash of the titans, sanctum 3d, jackass 3d, etc, the 3d added absolutely nothign to the film other then a migraine during the movies.
