displaced Superbowl attendee seats

What they don't mention is that they were refunded triple the price they paid for the tickets, and were also allowed on the field after the game ended.

On the local news NFL said in addition to triple the face value the fans also get tickets to Super Bowl 46. And a majority of the "displaced" fans were "accommodated" in the club seating/club where the high rollers sit and they got to meet lots of celebs so it wasn't too bad a deal I have been seated in there before.

Well really tho... big deal.

The stadium knew this was going to be a problem in advance.

People paid for flights, hotel, meals, time off from work, etc. Being paid 10 times the ticket price would be fair.

Right, they got free tickets to next year's Superbowl too.

I think they were more than compensated, personally.

There are some people who are going to whine and cry no matter what. Even if you walked back up to them 10 minutes later and told them they'd be getting THEIR seats, they'd be bitching all night about how they were hassled and inconvenienced.

LOL... great! So if/when New England plays Atlanta for example in Superbowl 46, Packers and Steelers fans will be thrilled to take home that memory.

It's a vacant and bullshit offer IMO. If you are going to give people free tickets to a superbowl, at least pay for their flights and rooms too.

Don't get me wrong... I couldn't care much less about the superbowl and I think a lot of the fools who go need to get fuckin lives, BUT the point of the matter is they paid for tickets, and everything else that came along with it and deserve to see the game in the seats they paid for. Dallas seriously fucked up.

They did fuck up. At the same time though, people seem to think they are owed the ridiculous money back that they decided to pay out for tickets. Anyone who pays waaaayyy above the face value of a ticket for anything, should accept the consequences if things don't work out.

Sports events, concerts and many more events get cancelled for different reasons, and people can't be compensated fully, IF they paid more than face value...

I'd be disappointed but the compensation seems pretty fair, probably even more than fair, as it should be. Shit happens. A ball must have been dropped somewhere because nobody stood around before the game and said "hey lets screw over some people so that we have to pay out the ass compensating them."

i think they should have worked with each and every person on a personal basis and find out what they feel would be fair. I'm sure most of the ones affected will eventually sue.

The seats were not finished in time because ice had fallen off the roof and injured 6 workers so the fire marshal and NFL safety closed the end zone entrances until it was deemed safe. The company in charge of putting the seats in lost about 12 hours because of the closure, which would have made it possible for people to be seated in the empty sections. I'm sure there are alot of factors but thats what local Fox4 said sunday after the game. I think the people that paid $200 to be out in the rain and cold to watch the game on a TV the size I have in my theater room were crazy LOL. I watched it in the comfort of my power leather love seat in the warmth of my theater room in 1080p HD and could skip the commercials already played

if you came cuz you are a packers fan then getting tickets to next year's game isn't a big deal if they don't win it next year. not sure how to make good though. Maybe they should offer tickets for the next time your selected team is in the superbowl in your lifetime or tickets to next years. Maybe they should do both.

Hold on.... 3 x face value refund, access to the field for the awards ceremony, and free admission to next year's Superbowl is empty compensation if there are no flights and rooms? Gimme a break.

These people need a reality check anyway. Shit happens sometimes. I tend to think they might have already had an idea about these seats being special, temporary seats to begin with. There's likely a lot they aren't saying right now.

People were paying around 3K for $600 tickets. So they still took a big loss even at 3x face value refunded. Not to mention airfare and hotel... i smell lawsuits.

You smoking crack and obviously not a huge sports fan. If I flew from pittsburgh or GB to watch my team play, and then couldn't and all i got to do was walk on the field with a huge crowd of other people and reporters I would be pissed. Oh and tickets next year, big fucking deal. If your team doesn't play next year (very likely they wont) then what they hell do they care about going to see other teams play.

bare min would be to reimburse them 100% for their cost to get there. What they paid for the tickets, airfare and hotel. And on top of that free tickets to next years game would be a nice gesture.

3x ticket face value, they got to watch the game from the VIP section and they get tickets to next years super bowl which they can probably sell to recompense more than it cost them to get there. I'd take that!

What's your solution? Not do anything at all? These people, no matter what they are compensated, will never be fully satisfied.

$3K for $600 tix? Who's problem is that?
Lawsuit? I'd like to see it.

I happen to have won Superbowl tickets here several years ago. Look it up.

Do I know you? I don't smoke crack.

Lol, if you aren't given tickets or win them, then you're going to be paying well beyond face to go to a superbowl, you act as though people shouldn't have paid that much for tickets. This was an absolute nightmare for the displaced ticket holders, the NFL completely dropped the ball on this one and the compensation doesn't even come close to making up for what occurred.

Right up until game time people were huddled after being told they couldn't sit in their seats. As the national anthem was being sung, someone walked up and handed them a piece of paper telling them they would be compensated 3 times their ticket price, no explanation, no apology, just an escort to a bar where they could watch if they wanted. Only a very small fraction got relocated, most had already left. The fact that they were working right up until game day to put in these extra seats is horrible planning and basically comes down to pure greed as Jerry Jones desperately wanted it to be the largest attended super bowl ever.

This will be easy slam dunk lawsuits for those who pursue it, most that braved the harsh weather conditions to travel from Pitt and GB spent min 5 times their ticket price on the trip.

Now they are offering them a choice to take tickets to any future superbowl with air and hotel accomodations. However, the tickets are non transferrable (non sellable) and they won't be getting the 3x face compensation if they take that option.

I think that they should be compensated what they paid for the tickets + flight + hotel (assuming they can prove the purchases) and given free tickets to next year's superbowl. Triple face value is good if you live in Dallas but that doesn't say much in terms of covering hotel/flight.

I agree with that, I'm sure it wouldn't satisfy some, but that would seem fair to me.
