Suggestions For A Weekend Trip In The States??

I wanna take my girlfriend away next month for a weekend, not sure where to go tho, but I want somewhere I haven't been before so not Miami, Orlando, LA, New York or Vegas.

I was thinking San Francisco, anyone got suggestions on best area to stay in? Or if you can recommend somewhere better than San Fran, I'm all ears. Has to be somewhere with lots of stuff to do tho, nice steakhouses, good trendy bars/clubs.

Thanks in advance.

I've been to San Fran and its a nice weekend getaway with alot of food and nightlife options. We stayed at the Le Méridien San Francisco which was close to chinatown, Union Square, fishermans wharf. We also had a car and went to Golden Gate Park and muir woods.

Another place I recommend to ya is to come down to san diego for the weekend if you guys like beaches you will have a great time. You can stay at some place like the Sheraton La Jolla which has close access to downtown SD, coronado, la jolla. Lots of food options and nightlife options (Gaslamp)

I should have mentioned we are going to Chicago in May when her parents come out to visit us. It's only a 4-5 hour drive for us, so that isn't an option. Minneapolis defo is tho, I think we can drive there too. Will have to check it out.

San Fran is fantastic! Let me know if you decide to go there, i know some fantastic bars and hotels to stay at. Additionally have some great friends out there too that would be glad to meet up and show you around a bit.

Its better to fly to Minneapolis from DTW. You can drive, but it pushes 10 hours by the time you get through Chicago traffic etc. Plus they have State Patrol everywhere in Wisconsin, that you tend to have to stick close to the speed limit.

Am I the only one that wouldn't recommend the Midwest in March? I would go down South or West, not the Midwest. Midwest would be better in late April, early May. Weather starts to get real nice, better activities. March is slushy and has cold snaps.

Totally agree. Especially when you already live in the mid-west.

I would suggest Key West or New Orleans.

hey ross! san fran is awesome and worth a visit. lots of cool neighborhoods. new orleans would be my other suggestion...IMO no other city in the US can compete with it in terms of unique culture, partying, amazing and reasonably priced restaurants, etc etc.

I agree... the weather could be really nasty in the Midwest in March. San Fran would be warmer, has many options for things to do, and great restaurants. The same goes for New Orleans.

A lot of people have been recommending New Orleans to me recently, seems like its the place to be. I might have to look into that.. Thanks JP.

LOL! My house is 15 min drive from Detroit, we're there quite often, albeit with doors locked and body armour on.

We're planning on coming over to NYC later in the year when my brother comes over to visit me. I'll let you know, we can grab lunch or something.
