![]() Do you think that there is any chance of successful protecting idea copyright? Does an idea always needs to be patented in order to protect it?
I came across a few unique ideas in my head... I think they are unique, well, at least I haven't seen anything similar since ever. As everything on this word these ideas base on something that already exist, but I took the things a step forward. I have described these ideas in the file which I have included into the copy of the complete project in order to register and secure the copyrights. But I wonder are there any chances to defeat my copyright in a case when someone get "inspired" by my design. Let's say he won't copy my files but he will create similar work on his own + some changes. He will rip my idea which I have already invented before him. Do I have any chances to win against him claiming my copyright to legal authorities? |

Ok. So, the first idea is... wait... yeah, lol
Well, basically I was asking this question because patenting is quite pricey when compared to registering a copyright (in the US of course, most countries doesn't require registering anything in order to protect your copyrights). Anyway, my ideas aren't like something that will cause a disaster to me if someone will steal them... but it's kinda annoying that someone may steal my stuff. |

I did not think you can copyright an idea.
What does copyright protect? Copyright, a form of intellectual property law, protects original works of authorship including literary, dramatic, musical, and artistic works, such as poetry, novels, movies, songs, computer software, and architecture. Copyright does not protect facts, ideas, systems, or methods of operation, although it may protect the way these things are expressed. |

You cannot copyright an idea. You can copyright the execution of an idea.
