, Simpson was greatly amused by what he called a false report that claimed he was severely beaten by a fellow inmate at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center.The story, which was published in the

National Enquirer

, claimed Simpson was knocked to the ground, punched and kicked to a "bloody pulp," left with injuries so severe he had to secretly recover in the infirmary for nearly three weeks.

The attack allegedly put him into such a "deep depression" that he spends most of his time now confined to his cell, claims the tabloid.
