wich version are you talking about.. if its 4th generation let someone that knows do it, cause its pretty hard and it can get bricked in no time.

if its earlier generations then its way easier and you can make it pretty much from home with the right equipment

advantage is to have full control over your device.

apple doesnt let you do a lot of things, including customizing the look, with android devices they give you complete control to do anything.

Mine is jailbroken just so I can unlock it. I have never bothered with customizing or installing extra apps though.

I jailbroke my iPhone 4 but it was very unstable and had to be reset like 10x a day. So I reverted back to the old factory version. New jailbrakes might be better though

I have a 3GS device and jailbreak made my life easier and cheaper.
I've heard iPhone 4 gets really unstable after jailbreak though...

mine is jailbroken but more importantly it's unlocked which allows me to use t-mobile and spend $70/month rather than $120. the downside is that i can only use the edge network, but most of the time i'm on wifi anyway.

I have a factory unlocked iPhone 4 paid full price for it (840$ with the taxes) and don't really feel like taking the risk of jailbreaking
