The numbers look like a huge cut, but then he said over 12 years.

I seen someone getting a head start on the election.

Looks like the rich, will get a huge wakeup call, raise their taxes, and limit deductions, double hit.

One thing, you wont hear either side do is reduce politicians pay, reduce or get rid of bs ear marks, and so on.

we dont have a deficit problem, we have a SPENDING problem

quit spending so much and we wouldn't be in all this trouble. the gov't will always spend more on an increasing scale, but we need to limit what they spend on so this does not get out of control

If they were serious about cutting spending then why didn't they take advantage of last weeks shutdown scare to do something about it? Instead fought over what amounted to less than .01% of the overall budget?

Yes ever since Bush started giving money away the US debt has risen. It's not the fault of one Government it's a trend that is clear to see in many countries.

America on a spending spree.

Consider this most of that debt, money loaned, poured into the US economy. Whether to build a road, bridge, pay police, fireman, Government workers, etc. Most of the money ended up paying for US houses, cars in the US, spent in malls and food shops. The problem is what it was spent on. Goods sucked in from the 3rd world.

Cutting the deficit means removing this money from the economy. Less people buying porn memberships.

However while you all go to the local Mall to buy cheap goods produced in the 3rd world. The problem will remain.

The only way for a country to get out of debt is to do the same as you and I would. Earn the money to repay the loan. Every time Governments cut, someone somewhere loses a job and puts another person on the Governments payroll. So you save $100 and end up with $100 out of the economy.

All he did was throw the first log on what will erupt into a pretty good size fire next week. It seems Obama claims to want to cut the deficit and spending by cutting parts out of many different areas of government while returning the tax rate on the top 2% back to 39% from the 36% it is now.

Meanwhile the republicans want to cut the deficit/spending by gutting social security, many social entitlement programs and turning Medicare into a voucher system.

Both sites hate the other's plan and neither as they sit has a change of passing.
