Media beginning to turn on the Liar in Chief?

The Presidential Divider
Obama's toxic speech and even worse plan for deficits and debt.

Did someone move the 2012 election to June 1? We ask because President Obama's extraordinary response to Paul Ryan's budget yesterday?with its blistering partisanship and multiple distortions?was the kind Presidents usually outsource to some junior lieutenant. Mr. Obama's fundamentally political document would have been unusual even for a Vice President in the fervor of a campaign.

The immediate political goal was to inoculate the White House from criticism that it is not serious about the fiscal crisis, after ignoring its own deficit commission last year and tossing off a $3.73 trillion budget in February that increased spending amid a record deficit of $1.65 trillion. Mr. Obama was chased to George Washington University yesterday because Mr. Ryan and the Republicans outflanked him on fiscal discipline and are now setting the national political agenda.

Mr. Obama did not deign to propose an alternative to rival Mr. Ryan's plan, even as he categorically rejected all its reform ideas, repeatedly vilifying them as essentially un-American. "Their vision is less about reducing the deficit than it is about changing the basic social compact in America," he said, supposedly pitting "children with autism or Down's syndrome" against "every millionaire and billionaire in our society." The President was not attempting to join the debate Mr. Ryan has started, but to close it off just as it begins and banish House GOP ideas to political Siberia.

Mr. Obama then packaged his poison in the rhetoric of bipartisanship?which "starts," he said, "by being honest about what's causing our deficit." The speech he chose to deliver was dishonest even by modern political standards.

When I was walking Buddy this morning, I passed by a newsstand, with the headline; Obama: Spend less, tax more.

I thought that was an interesting concept.

Unfortunately the ONLY things he was specific about were the parts where he was going to keep on spending and tax more. The parts concerning spending LESS were so vague that they basically didn't exist.

You're kidding, right? Did you even listen to his spech? I did, and I live in CANADA. The man is amazing and he's the best thing to happen to the US since Clinton. He, with much restrained, crushed the idiots in the GOP and their ridiculous free of the Bush tax cuts for the rich. Listen to his speech yourself before you listen to any more bullshit that the republicans spit out of their brainless heads.

So a president bashing the other side politically is a good thing? He's suppose to be the president of the United States, not the leader of the democrat party!

By your reasoning, I guess I hated Bush just because he was white. Thanks for clearing it up for me. All this time I thought I hated him because he was a shitty president.

He can try ... but with these guys, doubtful :

As Revenues Plunge To 60-Year Low, GOP Congressman Claims ‘We Have Too Much Revenue’

As a share of GDP, government revenue in 2009 (the most recent year available) was at its “lowest since 1950.” As this chart from the Congressional Budget Office demonstrates, the recession decimated the federal tax base:

But even before the recession, there simply wasn’t enough money coming into the federal government to cover costs, forcing the government to borrow 40 cents of every dollar it spends, as Republicans like to remind Americans so frequently.

It’s worth noting that the last time Republicans claimed there was too much revenue coming into the federal government, they ended up solving that problem by helping to create the deficits of today. “[M]ore than any other” reason, President Bush justified his 2001 tax cuts by claiming the budget surplus President Clinton created was actually bad. “A surplus in tax revenue, after all, means that taxpayers have been overcharged,” Bush explained. Of course, the Bush tax cuts are one of the largest contributors to today’s budget deficit by depriving the government of needed revenue.

There wasn’t “too much revenue” in 2001, and there’s far less today. As a member of the budget committee, Rokita should be aware of that.
---------------------------------------------

With those thinking, that you and the baggers adopted, there is little chance to avoid bankruptcy...

Yeah yeah

When Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave her inaugural address as speaker of the House in 2007, she vowed there would be ?no new deficit spending.? Since that day, the national debt has increased by $5 trillion, according to the U.S. Treasury Department.

How about a simple concept - spend less?

How much money do we spend a year on welfare? How many generations are raised on welfare? Welfare was meant to be a temporary effort to help people get back on their feet, not supporting people for a lifetime of not working.

Stop sending money to other countries. Israel? How much money do we send them each year? Other countries? Why were we sending money to Egypt? How did that work out for us?

"It is a balanced plan that asks for shared sacrifice in order to offer shared opportunity for all Americans."

"It's not appropriate for us to ask for sacrifices from everybody except for the two percent of American's who are doing best. We should ask everybody to participate in this effort to get our fiscal house in order."

Yeah.. Obama is nuts saying that shit. Far left crazy is what that is.

Hell Yeah, cut all those stupid agencies like the EPA, FDA, and FAA. I live on the edge and I love the idea of not knowing what's in my food or drugs. It's a rush, man!

And don't get me started on Planned Parenthood. If a woman is too poor to raise a child and wants an abortion, I say force her to have the child anyway. Then when she needs medical care for the child, cut that out too. Then when the kid needs to go to school, cut the funds for that as well. Cut everything!

Have you ever been to a poor person's house? They live like kings, they just call themselves poor to trick you. It's these CEOs who are taxed so bad they can barely pay their rent who are the real victims.

I just wish we let Bush privatize social security a few years ago and put all that money in the stock market like the Republicans wanted. Then during the market crash of 2008 all those old people would have lost their life savings and died off. Then we wouldn't have such a burden on medicaid today.

Oh well, at least the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal is there to be the voice of the average Joe.

The rich provide jobs, and by taxing them we will lose even more jobs.

Obama is toxic to the economy. The sooner he is voted out of office, the better.

Bullshit, proven bullshit, 1000000000% bullshit.... taxes have been higher and the economy better before... From personal and corp, actually taxes today are at the lowest point in History for the rich, and Corps are paying the lowest percentage in history for like 20 years now, and are sitting on the most money every in history... and guess what? they aren't hiring more and when it was higher, they didn't hire less...

Your facts are the only thing toxic around here..

...Yes...less spend less!!! Why give the ultra wealthy a tax break?

Let's cut military stuff...it's all gays anyways.

Let's kill chronic homeless people because they are the burden on major cities.

Clinton raised the upper tax bracket from owing 35% to 39% and the economy grew 20 million jobs. EVERY income level increased more under Clinton. And we know exactly what happened when that tax bracket was brought back down to 35%. Jobs in the shitter for 10 years. Job's are finally coming back now and the Ryan plan calls for lowering it from 35% to 25%! Redistribution of wealth 101! It's fiscal suicide. Not to mention that capital gains taxes are at a historic low already.

People seriously, put your thinking caps on. If the Bush tax cuts create jobs, where the HELL are they?? China? India? Mexico? Stop it with this false premise for fuck sakes. Tax cuts for the rich and corporations create precisely zero American jobs.

If a corp. gets a tax break and doesn't move to China, that creates exactly zero jobs. It simply prevents some from leaving, and why is that a victory anyway? A net loss of zero is a net gain of zero in this case. Just stop it with that nonsense non-argument.

Low Tax Rates Equal Prosperty ??

Between 1950 & 1966 was the greatest time of prosperity for America.

And what low tax rates did the rich (incomes of only $100,000) pay??

Over 90%

And now the rich whine about 30%

If GE, big oil and the rest that pay no taxes, there'd be no deficit or budget problems.

the kicker of course is the reality that a lot of the 'military interventions' are based on economics and attrition

so we pay for the security of these companies, WHILE they dodge taxes

Hey there's a dream.. If enough of these rich people leave America (for... europe?) and shut down their companies because that's an obvious thing that rich people do when they get mad... Then maybe there'll be actually enough left over the rest of the normal people!

And then instead of demanding 15% growth of every company, every year, you guys could actually have some y'know - solvent companies?

Such a scary concept, losing all those rich people.

Tip: They won't actually leave - it's a bluff.

But if the rich all move away to China and only sell Chinese goods to Americans, what kind of shithole would that make America?

Oh shit wait...

1925
The top tax rate is lowered to 25 percent - the lowest top rate in the eight decades since World War I.
1932
Top tax rate is raised from 25 to 63 percent.
1936
Top tax rate raised to 79 percent.
1945
The top tax rate is 91 percent. It will stay at least 88 percent until 1963, when it is lowered to 70 percent. During this time, America will experience the greatest economic boom it had ever known until that time.

Taxing the rich didn't help the great depression, it was ended by getting Americans back to work building for WWII when manufacturing shot up 50%

Dear Mister Obama, get the fucking clue, get people back to work and that includes the poor!

By those numbers you couldn't say taxing the rich didn't help.... taxing everyone while creating the war machine, did help.

Obama doesn't create jobs... unless you want him to spend equal to trillions in todays dollars to force jobs to open, funded by the Gov-debt. No idea what we can create, but whatever.

The major Corps are setting on more cash on hand than ever in history. They have enough people to buy/use them, making them that huge stack of cash. It would be stupid of them to hire people - just to do it, it doesn't mean more money for the Corp - as we can see can see with recent history. Until that changes, jobs will not go up - and no person in the Fed can change that.

Anyway... blaming Obama for the job situation is kinda stupid when your local creates them. Unless you're okay with Obama spending more stimulus money.

He did spend a trillion on jobs, where are they?

"We can't compromise on our investments to grow, the investments we need to create jobs," he said.

President Obama is a liar?
What exactly did he lie about in the words you posted?

I'll take his so-called lies over Bush's any day of the week.

He did not spend a trillion dollars on jobs.... that's probably why you can't find them.

Out of this 800b stimulus, it still hasn't all been spent - it happens over years, and it's not all for jobs. Like here in Tucson they have signs up saying stimulus is paying for a new road that is totally trashed - part of the money is to rebuild infrastructure, part is for investments into technology, some for SS and tax cuts... lots of stuff really - either way, not all directly to jobs - even though jobs have been created.

Great quote for him to make... HE can only invest so much though, those corps with trillions need to pickup the slack, unless you want more of our tax dollars spent.

With all the benefit cuts, low min wages and some wanting it lower, no unions and even children workers - don't worry Americans will once again have jobs.

http://dailytribune.com/articles/201...3349111658.txt

It's sad other Countries look at us like a 3rd world Country now with our labor force, equal to how we look at Mexico's labor... Not something to be proud of really but hey, we'll have jobs.

Still shows that it was 8 years after they raised taxes on the rich did the economy get better, it didn't get better because of taxing the rich, it did it despite it
