Girls - Thrift store, Consignment, Garage sale shoppers?

Everyone knows I am an avid thrift store/consignment/garage sale shopper! so I thought it would be fun to have a place to show off our secondhand finds.

Saturday I purchased a $3 Gucci scarf paired with a beautiful $5 YSL jacket. The scarf had the Saks tag still attached (with the price part taken off)! I got the scarf from the Salvation Army and the YSL from Goodwill. The coat is fantastic! .. It has a great military look.

Then! at Unique Thrift, I found a pair Vintage Versace sunglasses for $20 and possibly the most amazing coat I've ever bought, a $30 American mink swing coat. (With 50 inches of swing!) I have never bought a coat that size before. The fur is perfectly intact, too!

Pics to follow after I have these pieces professionally cleaned.

Mink coat? Holy cows. THe local thrift stores always resell their better items up the chain to vintage stores that charge top dollar.

BUT my best find was last month:

Thomasville solid oak hutch and bar and two matching bookshelves for $200 including tax. Brilliant condition. Someone had donated them the day before and we snapped them right up.

Someone was selling the same set (but with the dining table and 6 chairs) on CL last week for $900.

Great find Elli.
A Thomasville solid oak for $200 is fantastic!
Are you a avid thrift store shopper?

The best part is finding shoes that have hardly been worn. I bought a pair of Halston t-straps at Goodwill for $3 and absolutely unworn Bruno Maglis for my mom for $8.

The best thing to bring along is patience, patience, patience!

Thanks, yes I was quite pleased with the find

I don't spend a lot of time in thrift stores, but I do like to wander in and poke around. I picked up a cool vintage rolltop bread box for $7 that works great! I'm not big on used shoes. They just feel kind of icky for some reason...

That's sexist. Men can be thriftstore whores too. I got a badass meatgrinder for $2 the other day.

now that's a good deal, those things last forever...

I have an antiques and collectibles store around the corner from me I go to all the time, normally i pick up old tools and such as I'm trying to build up a blacksmith shop in my garage this summer, but recently I picked up a trumpet for a steal--yes I'm having it cleaned ;)

Trust me - In general, I have mostly everything thoroughly cleaned.

I have no ryme or reason to which stores I will go too! I am an equal opportunity thrifter!!! let me see what else I can find.

Here is the sheared mink coat I mentioned to 'TurboAngel' not to long ago. I paid a remarkable $2.99 for it!

One of my favorite pieces of clothing I own is a vintage Chanel blazer/jacket, classic black and white tweed with silk lining. Goes with everything! Wasn't super-duper cheap at $90, but still a deal to me.

I hunt ebay for these deals everyday. There are lots of people that don't know what they're selling or they don't care enough to write it. Bought two new jackets retailing at 800 pounds with 11 pounds and new Hugo Boss boots that are ~ $500 at $25

Oh, and ebay is heaven for niche perfumes

Wow - so many great bargains!

I went thrifting today at some smaller thrift shops in town. (we have about 10 between here and one town over)

I bought a pretty set of light blue glass dishes that I am going to give to my girlfriend. She recently married and can use just about everything. The sticker said $29.99, but the whole store was half off today so I got over 50 pieces for only $15.00

I went to another smaller thrift shop run by some not so nice little old ladies and I picked up a purse that I thought was kinda cute. I looked at the hang tag and saw it was a vintage coach. The tag said $3.50 so I rushed up to the counter and asked if it was really $3.50 and the lady said "nope, actually all of the purses are $1.00"!!!!!

And to be a little inappropriate deceased estates can have great, great stuff. Everything from musical instruments to clothes to silverware... Often they are valued well but sometimes you get a real gem at next to nothing!

It's not just women!! I love garage sales, swap meets, auctions, anything like that.
Shit like that is a great way to waste a day

Get into a tropical shirt, go driving around buying this and that and another thing, stop for some good food now and then

What the hell why not

I guess I am just old

I'd rather do that than go out to some club

Okay, here are my latest treasures. I purchased this adorable clutch for $6. It had mold stains on the leather lining but I managed to remove them and now it's like new.
I like buying on Ebay, too.

A few years ago, my hubby and I were "antiquing" and found a old Thomasville desk for $10. When we got it home and had it refinished, we found out that it was worth a boatload more than $10. I'm still excited about that one.

I've found underwear and sex toys can be picked up for almost nothing when bought second hand.
