Thank God for Wikileaks. At least we are getting some facts on the real history. |

an "American Lie"? What does that mean? The rest of the worlds media that was watching and reporting on it as well was lying because America told them too?

All it proves is that a third party (wikkileaks) claims to have a cable from the US government in China saying there was no massacre. However, we don't know exactly when the cables were - from that article, it seems this was information coming in from one source as it was happening... That means, at the time of the reporting there was no massacre. Doesn't mean it didn't happen an hour later, six hours later, or the following day. Also... At what point did we decide that anything wikileaks claims to have is real? Not saying the article isn't true. But I question anything that isn't accepted as fact on most mainstream news sources in the US (which includes FOX).

what I see in that article is there was no massacre in Tian An Men square (something that was told many times across the years). But it also says there were killings in the surrounding areas, which makes a lot of sense. I mean, Chinese leaders aren't exactly stupid, it's quite possible they thought "OK, instead of killing people IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS.... LET'S DO IT 3 BLOCKS AWAY WHERE NOBODY CAN SEE!" As a matter of fact, the only images you've all seen of Tian An Men is a guy stopping a tank. But wait, they were "killing people by thousands" but one guy stopped a column of tanks... IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS?
Besides, even the BBC reporter who wrote the original Tian An Men chronicle admitted he lied about Tian An Men and the killings were in the surrounding areas, not the square itself, what else do you need? Besides, does it change the fact that people was killed anyways? Does it change something if it happened in some place or another? Geez, some people....

Makes sense. The Chinese government is pretty chill.
![]() Remember the Beijing Olympics and the "Bird Nest" stadium. The artist that created it spoke out against the government and this is what happened to his studio. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/13/wo...a/13china.html ![]()

Estimates of deaths from different sources, in descending order:
10,000 dead (including civilians and soldiers) ? Soviet Union. 7,000 deaths ? NATO intelligence. 4,000 to 6,000 civilians killed, but no one really knows ? Edward Timperlake. Over 3,700 killed, excluding disappearance or secret deaths and those denied medical treatment ? PLA defector citing a document circulating among officers. 2,600 had officially died by the morning of 4 June (later denied) ? the Chinese Red Cross. An unnamed Chinese Red Cross official estimated that, in total, 5,000 people were killed and 30,000[clarification needed] injured. Closer to 1,000 deaths, according to Amnesty International and some of the protest participants, as reported in a Time article. Other statements by Amnesty have characterized the number of deaths as hundreds. 300 to 1,000 according to a Western diplomat that compiled estimates. 400 to 800 plausible according to the New York Times' Nicholas D. Kristof. He developed this estimate using information from hospital staff and doctors, and from "a medical official with links to most hospitals". 180?500 casualties, according to a declassified NSA document which referred to early casualty estimates. 241 dead, including soldiers, and 7,000 wounded, according to the Chinese government. 186 named individuals confirmed dead at the end of June 2006 ? Professor Ding Zilin of the Tiananmen Mothers. The Tiananmen Mothers' list includes some people whose deaths were not directly at the hands of the army, such as a person who committed suicide after the incident on 4 June. |

n 2009, James Miles, who was the BBC correspondent in Beijing at the time, admitted that he had "conveyed the wrong impression" and that "there was NO massacre on Tiananmen Square. Graham Earnshaw, a down-to-earth Reuters correspondent who spent the night of June 3-4 at the alleged site of the massacre — at the center of Tiananmen Square — interviewing students in detail until the troops finally arrived in the early dawn. He too failed to see any massacre. As he writes in his memoirs, "I was probably the only foreigner who saw the clearing of the square from the square itself.".....http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-b...0080721gc.html

Xiaoping Li, a former China dissident, now resident in Canada, writing recently in Asia Sentinel and quoting Taiwan-born Hou Dejian who had been on a hunger strike on the square to show solidarity with the students: "Some people said 200 died in the square and others claimed that as many as 2,000 died. There were also stories of tanks running over students who were trying to leave. I have to say I did not see any of that. I was in the square until 6:30 in the morning.".....http://tiananmenmyth.blogspot.com/

Of course there was no massacre, the soldiers were giving away some hot soup for protesters not shooting civilians!
Same misunderstanding as with German concentration camps that were used just to help Jews survive the war. |
