shooters, what sort of post-production work do you do with your photographs & video?

if you could, please describe your post-editing style for both. no need to reveal *secrets* unless you want to, just a wham bam overview would be cool.

maybe also how you learned post-production and anything else you feel would be related. ty

Other than rotate pics to their proper orientation or editing a video to a finished movie in the cases where clients call for that, I generally don't do any post-production work. I'm in a quality-driven but also a volume business and I sell or license tens of thousands of images per month and tens of hours of videos per month. So I insist all the pics and video come out of the camera correctly, essentially edited as they are shot.

Agreed

And Shoot Raw. Raw gives you a bigger file to work with and it kinda give you a 2nd crack at it if you kinda messed up.

I use Lightroom color correcting, batching, and processing all of my stills. I have CS5 and use it here and there, but that can also be used.

Edit rushes.

Grade shot by shot levels and color.

Add Titles and any visual effects

Record extra sound effects and lay effects from library

Track lay sound

Send rough cut to musician for music track

lay on music track

Mix sound

Make Blu ray and check film projected.

Make corrections

Export to required formats.

That's the most efficient way, especially if you hate post production work like we do.

Dave, your still work on jaysin's productions is outstanding.

your video work is equally well-done & i would love to hear more on how your video workflow is.

Stills = Raw then Lightroom
