Has anyone outsourced cheap coding?

There are a couple scripts already offering what I need but they charge a commission per sale $5 for using their script and they require that it's hosted on their servers (fuck that!). I made a flow chart of what I need done but I don't have the ability to create something like it.

Has anyone ever outsourced cheap coding via a freelancer website or through some other source of cheap coding? If so post who/what/where you got it done and your experience.

Cheap coding is exactly that; Cheap. The few times I outsourced coding offshore, to the Philippines or India, did not end well. I ended up paying 3 times as much to correct the errors, clean up the code and finally get what I needed done. I could have spent just twice as much and got it done right the first time and on schedule.

Yeah, I have created 50+ project on scriptlance.com and similar sites. In most cases I'm happy with the scripts.

Just give the programmers clear instructions and look at their reviews....

Yes, you have to be very precise and clear in your directions, exactly what you want and described in detail. Then a cheap coder can often do it, but don't expect him to think or understand how things work or intend to work and take that two steps further. You often get EXACTLY what you ask for, so make sure your project description is very precise.

I have a guy in Pakistan who does all my mainstream coding. Due to religious reasons he will not touch any adult related at all. He's an excellent coder but needs desriptions for what needs to be done and I often even make quick screen shots with arrows and explanations. It works really well for us.

This right here. Hiring programmers is typically always a bitch, hiring ones from third world countries only makes it worse.. Let me explain why:

1) Disregard of timelines
2) The ability to not say no, they will never tell you they can't do something or don't know how, they would rather cut and paste code they find and try to hack things together.
3) The ability to think on their own
4) Language barrier

When it comes to programming, you typically get what you pay for.
