Do you report Spam?

Or do you just bury it with your email program?

I report to the FBI but I wonder if it does anything.

Is there anymore good sources to report Spam to with a forward address or on a website?

lots and lots of people *do* report mail as spam, even if they opted in to a newsletter! particularly gmail and aol as the buttons are really right there.

100% correct which is but one reason that mailing lists have to be so large to accomplish anything.

That and the fact that most surfers have no idea what they are doing when they sing up to receive newsletters, announcements or email sales pitches for products or services.

Many srufers and recipiceants define any commrcial email as "spam" even though they have opted or doubly-opted in to receive it.

These surfers and recipients are defined as "morons" but do occasionally buy.

I suppose the they think that the information which they have requested will be delivered to them by fairy dust or carrier pigeon.

If I unsubscribe more than once, I set a filter straight to the FTC and never see the email again.

I don't hit the spam button... simply follow the law or get filtered to the gov.

I have about 50 of these filters set.

A lot of people don't even know what spam is. They think anything they ever get from anyone they dont know is spam.

What pisses me off are the ads I get for Power Scooters and other old man stuff. Fuck off. Send me skateboard ads and young man stuff, assholes. And as always, stay off my lawn.

Ones that I know are pure Spam that I didn't sign up for - yep. I get sick of getting 100 emails from the same adult sponsor when I know they bought/stole my email addy. It's bullshit and not a way to do biz. Treat the surfers like shit, lose a porn customer from the industry.

Spam itself is actually legal... it's called CAN spam, so you CAN spam basically.

What's illegal, is to ignore the opt-out process, not send proper headers, fake the org sender, forcing porn spam through, and so on.

Yes, I do report those... it takes about 2 seconds to setup a filter for it. Where the spam button might be 1 second, you still have to hit it 10 times to work where a filter works 99.9% of the time.

I get email lists, basically spammers spamming so I will pay them to spam others. Then it's a mix of join my network, collect your award, or download this file to update your bank account.

It's easy, just click show show source, then forward the email with the headers cut and pasted in the top to [email protected] and yes I hate spam so it's worth the time. My filters take out hundreds of spams a day I only the report the few that make it though.

You should to.

I have 2 email addys that are just over 10 years old, and they get HAMMERED with "spam" on a daily basis I never see them mind you as they go right to the junk folders, BUT I do see the topics now and then....

the last few weeks I've seen a huge uptick on "virus" mails coming to those 2 accounts ALL the same topic "DHL" "UPS" or "FED EX" all claiming the address I used was wrong and they can't ship or send me my package, ALL have an attached file, and about 50% of them set off my virus software lol.

I'd bother to report them BUT I was bored one day and I randomly checked 10 of those mails and every single one had a diff email .co .it .fr etc etc so I just dump the junk folder and that's that.

You waste your time hitting a delete button, FAR more, probably 100's of times more, than the 2 seconds a filter takes, add up all those deletes, and it's many more minutes, and minutes = money.

Spam emails, cost you money..... are you too busy to save money?

BTW, I've helped put a GFYer in jail for spam, I'm quoted in fed court cases over it, and I've reported many people here for it. So yeah, damn straight I do it, and I'll burn anyones ass who keeps doing it to me.

Spammers deserve what they get, all the way.

Problem is when you remove yourself from a mailing list you get put on "active" as a real person and get placed on hundreds if not thousands more lists.

Lesson: Never opt-out - NEVER!!!

You forward all your spam to the FBI? I hope you're just joking, as it is, they're severely lacking in man-power to investigate online crimes.

Forwarding every single piece of spam to them is a huge waste of your time.
