6 hour flight tomorrow... what apps/podcasts/movies/books/games should I put on my iPad & iPhone?

I'm flying across the country tomorrow and will be in the air for a total of about 5 hours & another couple of hours in layovers...

Luckily, the Ipad 2 supposedly has 10-hours worth of battery life (we'll see about that). I really doubt it gets a full 10 hours running stuff... maybe if the screen is a dim as possible? Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

ANYWAYS...

I am looking for MUST have apps & more for the ipad 2 and iphone.

Books - I read quite a bit, at least for a half hour each night before I fall asleep. I just finished a recommendation from a fellow GFY'er L-Pink, which was called One Second After which ended up being decent. When it comes to books I honestly will try anything but I prefer Non-fiction. I bought The Four Hour Body as well which I will probably crack open at some point... I like any book that will leave me a better/smarter/healthier person after I put it down...

Movies - I have the Netflix, HBOGO and HuluPlus App so if I'm lucky and get wifi on the plane I can use those. I prefer documentaries, so if you know of any that are available on iTunes please share. Otherwise I'm always down for a good comedy or horror flick.

Games - I already have and love the obvious choices like Angry Birds. Also recently started playing Final Fantasy 3 (damn thing cost me like $15!) so I enjoy RPGs. What has you addicted lately?

Apps - Has anyone shelled out the cash for the iWork line of apps? Things like Pages & Numbers? What are some of your MUST HAVE ipad apps? Know of any hidden app gems that don't receive the recognition they should??

Podcasts - Strangely enough I have never actually downloaded a podcast or video podcast. Where should I start there?

Please people, I don't want to end up as bored as these guys...

I absolutely hate flying but luckily when I touch down I'll be back to work and telling you guys more about our badass promo we're running in about a week Thanks for the recommendations, GFY... I promise to at least look up each and every single one of them!

Don't be shy GFY... you guys all know how dull and boring flying can be...

I just hope I don't get sandwiched in between two fat people that take all the arm rests... I swear that happens to me every time lol.

I used to fly alot and all I would do is get some work done or watch some movies.

Most of the internet on the airlines is to slow to stream movies unless you are going to watch on the lowest quality. I would suggest renting from the Apple store and making sure you download it well before.

I heard the book from Tina Fay is pretty decent, but I'm not much of a reader myself... so maybe someone else can point you in the right direction

Ehh, it's kind of hard to actually do any REAL work when I fly. I mean, I guess I could answer a few emails or update the DG blog but I don't think I'll be pulling a 468x60 banner of some naked chick or doing a test sign up on a new landing page for an affiliate lol.

I do enjoy the Wordpress app, however. Pretty handy!

I have no idea who Tina Fey is besides that she was on a sitcom which I forget the name of now. Last I remember, she was pretty hot, though.

If you like reading (as you said you do) download the enhanced version of "Crush it" by Gary Vaynerchuk to iBook.

It's a great high energy quick read and actually has REAL info about social media marketing. A lot is common sense but he does go into detail about how to build and leverage YOU as a brand utilizing various platforms we all know and use to some degree or another.

That sounds badass, I added the sample to the top of my list (btw is that wiredguy on the cover? Where's he been anyways??)

I always enjoy those types of books. Most of them end up being lame or things I already know but I'm always on the hunt for knowledge.

some planes do have an electrical outlet. Personally I watch all the movies I can, or go to the music selection and play the albums on the Bose noise reducing headphones. Makes time fly by quickly, lastly read a book

Hey Jayvis,

It looks like we have alot of similar tastes.

Books- I have always had issues reading books and I'm bad for listing to the audiobooks. The last audio book I injoyed was the classic Art of War.

Movies- I'm glad you like documentaries as much as I do. I had a great time watching.. Food Matters and http://transcendentman.com/ this week.

Games- I played Angry Birds for the first time this week and I'm fascinated is how such a simple game has become so popular.

Apps- Well I know this is for your Ipad but I sat down and really took the time to tweak my Chrome and start using all the web based application and wow what an amazing browser.

Podcasts- I'm a massive Joe Rogan PodCast lover.. from ufc to comedy to dick jokes everything and anything in between. Check it out.

What up Dwreck! Thanks, but I wish you would have listed those chrome apps, I use chrome and love itttt. And I'll check out the Joe Rogan podcast. I don't know a damn thing about the UFC, never got that whole thing but his standup is pretty good!

I don't find flights boring at all. For longer flights I usually just watch a few episodes of a series I haven't seen yet. Then again, having a netbook over an ipad is a big advantage in the media department.

I think the ipad is a media powerhouse. 10 hours of life versus a netbook that might get 4-6? Itunes is amazing also but yeah, I seee your point as well.
