Easily A. That particular pose is spot on, a girl showing her armpit like that is very powerful body language.

Of course she has got her legs spread too, thats a big "come and fuck me" as well

It's a very open inviting pose, but the elbow could be a touch more to the left so not pointing at the viewer.

A Shows the least and invites in.

B. Is a little closed and hiding.

C & D Have that annoying chair back in the picture, though I could PS that out. Both "busy" shots

E. Is waiting for something to happen and the eyes are good. And the least "busy" shot of all. There's just Susane and nothing to detract from her.

I'm very harsh with my work, often harsher on myself than I am on others.

Yeah even though she is fully clothed in image A its the most powerful. The other's leave little to the imagination. I guess you are right about the elbow position. There is some psychology behind the armpit pose, not sure what it is, something to do with pheromones.

If a girl shows you her armpit like that, there is no doubt she wants you sexually ;)

It's body odour.

A persons natural smell sets off emotions in others. In the case of the opposite sex, it's sometimes the trigger for love.

Of course not bad body odour.

I vote for A and D.. both images are perfect for marketing..
nice face projection and the contours of her body really shows..
if you will make D a glossy or dream type photo.. it would be perfect..

very true. Which is why I said a while ago that my content isn't good enough for todays market. Some thought I was talking only about my content, not that it applied to most content.

Our main market were the teen magazines. Which it seems so few could get into, even though it seems anyone can shoot this content.

They wanted us to find brand new or undershot girls for their mags. They didn't want fancy innovative work. They liked our styles of this kind or the more amateur style we shot on location. Should we shoot more elaborate with more experienced girls when it pays the same?

However with only a couple of handful of magazine publishers and max 30 mags we sold to we were fine. We didn't need to get too innovative.

Now compare that to online teen sites. 30 0r 300 or 3,000 or 30,000?

You can't compare a market with 30 outlets worth selling to and one with 1,000s.

How many times does a surfer hit a teen site and say to himself. Nice pics and vids, but the same old same old stuff I've seen 1,000s of times before? It's just another girl on another sofa going through the same act.

With the scene I shot for Manwin everyone ignored what I was doing. They didn't cut it as they should of though. However I shot it so the real girl shone through, the next girl I would of shot, if working, I would of shot the same way and made her real personality shone through. And the next one again the same way. This way even though it's still a girl on a sofa type content, the setting, sofa and lack of rose, the girl makes every scene hers.

Cheap yet effective way of making a site more interesting, better conversions and retention. Extra cost, little though you can't shoot 5 scenes a day with a guy who can only point a camera and has the lights.

This style was exactly how I shot Astral Blue ended up with a catalog of 300 1 hour videos and every girl doing it here way. Could write a book on this.

What are your thoughts about stairwells? Have you ever shot stills on a stairwell? Check it out. Curious to hear your thoughts.

Yes I have. Still if the girl is doing the same on the stairwell as she's doing on the sofa, the difference is slight.

Today it needs far more imagination and innovation to come up with something different.

Going shopping and will post one later.

If all you see is a stairwell and all you see is a sofa, it leads me to believe that photography was never really your true passion and that it was just something you did for a living. I don't mean that as an insult in any way. In some ways, a lack of vision and/or personal style can actually be beneficial from a business standpoint because it allows websites and magazines to publish your work without fearing that your style will clash with their existing brand or, even worse, become synonymous with their brand. There's naturally a larger market for unbranded, technically sound products than there is for products that come pre-branded.

To put that into perspective, let's say you needed to hire someone to film your wedding. Would you rather get someone who knows how to use a camcorder really well and is aware of lighting issues and which angles are most flattering or would you rather hire someone like David Lynch?

As far as coming up with something different, it really does not take much. Look at this set from Hegre. It's very simple, but with a creative use of shadows. No sofa. No stairwell.

Even though the wall definitely adds something to this shot, it's still pretty much just a girl and a sofa. Ever do anything similar?

I really do suggest that you read what I wrote about Michael White's use of stairs because you might learn something.

Vibrancy and depth like whose work?

These are single shots, so judging our work by them seems foolish. Especially without a comparison. And I think the less you said on these particular shot the better for you.

Yes you can sell. You are selling at the same level you were 30 years ago. You have a larger market now thanks to the internet, but also thanks to the internet you have more competition. Competition that somebody with your years of experience should not have a problem dealing with.
This is just wrong. Yes we can sell, thanks. I was selling at a totally different level to what I was selling at 30 years ago. And not because of the Internet. In fact today we're selling a lot less because of the Internet. I have no problem outselling most other content shooters.

Also selling 'bargain basement' deals at cut-throat prices doesn't really take a genius to do. There are many shops that make decent money selling inferior products at low low prices.
You don't understand the business we're in. In fact this is just wrong. Sorry but it is. We sell Bargain Basement because there's a market for rubbish online. In fact a bigger market for rubbish often than there's for quality. These special offers have made so much money it's staggering how many people will buy them. In fact many of the $10 sets have sold 100 times. A reflection on what we can shoot or online porn sites?

Considering our first market was one that online shooters couldn't get into and the rest of that is wrong or most online porn content is crap. Because a lot of people buy from Bargain Basement.

It seems to me that in those thirty years you never took the time to push yourself one step forward. Never to try something new or original, or define yourself as a professional. You simply have done the bare minimal amount of work required and called it a day.
More wrong. You don't know what I was doing 30 years ago. So why say it? Astral Blue content is from 1988 to 1995. Comparing with what I shot then and today is also wrong.

Again, I'm not flaming you.
If not you're foolish, because you're so far out it's easy to see. It would be better for you if this was a flame. Stating things as critique that are so wrong is much worse.

I'm just stating that your work has no character.
Like whose work?

Again you're wrong. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there. It means you can't see it. And are you talking photographic character or porn character?

It looks like jimmycopper posted some excellent examples.

For what market?

Comparing us to Hegre is like comparing oranges with bananas because they sell in the same shop. In truth Hegre and I sold a lot in different shops. They would never sell that content to a men's magazine. Editors were looking for shooters who could get those 18 shots down to 3 and get each one right. Not a guy who shoots stills like a film strip.

They also wanted landscape and portrait framed poses, legs far out is a landscape pose.

The shot of the girl with her hair flying is a great photo, won't sell in a men's magazine.

Also cropping out the girls fingers and hand is a beginners mistake. And the dangling navel jewelery?????

Not flaming or criticising you, you need to learn more about photography and porn before commenting on those subjects.

You can't see what I do, then fine. Doesn't mean I don't do it. Here's a hint. Look at the video I shot for Manwin and the ones I shot 20 years ago. You see the same type of communication from the model to the viewer. It was my skill to get that from a girl who had done yours of work or none. And could get the same tease on stills.

As for the shots. A &b were shot by Katka our studio manager, make up girl and shooter, C, D & E were shot by me and not my style. More glam and thoughtful than my style. The two styles are clear to see in the posing.

Finally that one shot with the dangling jewelery and the cropped hand, which you think is wrong, is much more likely to grab my attention in an ad than A,B,C,D, or E. Maybe you should consider licensing it and using it in your ad.
Hegre is the ones posing as photographers. I never have and am a pornographer.
Grab your attention for what reason. To jerk off or say nice photographic work?

I'm in the jerk off business.

The closeness of votes on 3 of the shots, shows why I'm not sure.

Please don't get involved in topics you don't understand.

I'm done arguing or trying to explain it to you. Thanks for the next bump.
