If you're feeling adventurous, and feel comfortable following their instructions, this is an option.

osx86 is an option.
A used imac might be a good option as well, or maybe a mac mini.

Jonathan,

My brother is a video editor and a total PC guy. He has a few clients that demand Final Cut project files even though he works primarily with Adobe Premiere in the PC. He built a hackintosh system and it as pretty sweet. If you need help I am sure he could hook you up. It was a lot cheaper and works perfectly. lmk and I will send you his email.

The last PC I have in the house now runs a Hackintosh setup. Running next to any 7 or so Macs in our house...you can't tell the difference.

It's running a legit copy of OSX Lion and cost about 1/3 the price of my Mac Pro desktop.

Setting things up really couldn't be easier these days.

As long as you don't mind breaking the EULA.

Funny how laws only apply when you personally agree with them, isn't it?

Yeah, they just brought out a new one, so all the old models are cheap now, and yes, perfect for many things! I use one for running Boxee.

Well, in the case of my suggestion, I was kidding.

I know Jonathon, and I know he's not about to build a freaking hackintosh.

I know *you* were. I've only met Jonathon a couple of times and our chat didn't extend to favourite (yes it has a u) motherboards. I should have done a -Q flag on my post.

Hehe -- I just wanted to clarify because after reading my post again, I thought maybe its sarcasm was a little too subtle.

Go for a Mac mini, those things are handy and relatively cheap. And as someone else mentioned, when a new model comes out the old ones go down by I think it was $100 or something.

Maybe you can pick one up in the Apple Stoer in China?

You are aware that a breaking a law and breaking a user agreement are two different things right?

And I have no problem running a legit copy of Lion that I paid for on a non Apple piece of hardware, being that I've got no less than $12k in Apple hardware in my house at the moment.

There are a number of out of the box PCs that you can install OSX almost as easily as you do Windows. So you don't even have to build one if you don't want to.
