Escrow.com is OK, but Moniker escrow is more secure and much faster.

Should I use godaddy with escrow or namecheap is ok too? The thing is that namecheap isn't on the approved list so the buyer can simply deny that i've transferred the domain to him :|

With escrow.com, or services like it that don't take posession of the domain, I've always wondered what would prevent a fraudulent buyer from changing the WHOIS info after you change it and then claiming to escrow.com that they never got it to get their money back?

Escrow.com holds the money until you confirm on their site that the transfer went through, then they release the funds.

Thats all nice, but what if the buyer has a different whois in his namecheap profile (which you can't verify before selling)?

So it will go like this:
1. buyer sends money to escrow.com
2. seller pushes the domain to the username given by the buyer (no way to verify his name/address from namecheap)
3. buyer receives the domain, but he is using a totally different whois (name/address) then in his escrow.com account
4. buyer complains to escrow.com that he hasn't received the domain
5. escrow.com checks whois and a totally different name is listed there
6. ? escrow.com sends money back to the buyer

This could go wrong the other way also.

1. buyer send the money to escrow.com
2. seller pushes the domain to a username created by himself using the buyers details
3. buyer doesn't receives the domain and complains to escrow.com
4. escrow.com verifies whois and the name and address listed there is matching the buyers data
5. escrow.com sends the money to the seller.

so the seller will keep the domain and the money also. Of course this could work only in a case when the seller knows all the info about the buyer...

Escrow.com releases the money when the buyer confirms the transfer went through not the seller. It seems a bit safer to push a domain into an account at the same registrar as Escrow.com would not have to rely on WHOIS info that has been altered and could contact the registrar to verify it was pushed from one account to another. Whether they would bother and the registrar would confirm are questionable.

The worst case is to rely soley on WHOIS info but that appears to be what they use. What could happen is the seller changes the WHOIS to what was agreed apon, then the buyer could change it to something else before Escrow has a chance to verify it has been changed, Escrow.com could then tell the seller that it does not match causing the buyer to get their money back.

As pointed out it could work the other way around but at least the WHOIS info would contain the buyers email address so the buyer could initiate and approve a transfer to gain control of it if they did it fast enough.

I've asked namecheap about this and on the support the guys said, that they won't give out any info to a 3rd party service (like escrow.com)

I see, well I guess then it is best to go with an escrow service offered by a registrar that takes control of the domain before any funds are distributed either way such as sedo or moniker.

use sedo if you are worried about this. they will only charge 3.something percent as long as the domain is not listed there.

Sedo is a pretty safe escrow service. That said, I've used Escrow.com for several years and have never had any issue with it. I HAVE heard some horror stories from others dealing with scammer buyers, but I myself haven't encountered that sort of thing. Even times when the buyer ultimately never went back or responded to Escrow.com to confirm the transfer, I was able to get the transaction closed and get paid, probably due to having a solid history there.

I just used the escrow at Sedo as well. Seemed like a pretty solid system. They take possession of the domain between the buyer and seller.
