I just finished making some ABV (Already Been Vaped) Brownies, when I was reminded of this movie scene...



In case anyone is interested in a really simple quick and dirty (ready in less than an hour) recipe:



Recipe calls for 20 grams, but I used 1 cup

i grind up the kind and slowly cook in oil until oil turns dark brown. then strain off the oil in a coffee filter and replace package brownie oil with pot oil..

my friend ate 3 brownies (12 doses) last time and saw jesus...

There's not much smell at all, and since the cannabis has already been vaped, it has a nice roasted smell. To anyone smelling it while cooking, it smells just like brownies.

When you are creating cannabutter or cannaoil. then you have to be careful about the smell, if you live in an apartment/dorm/condo.

So, the brownies kicked in hours ago, and I've had another since then (found out I only need one, hehe). Very chill. Great body buzz, with goosebumps on my arms (the good kind). Took a dump, and I swear it reaked of vaped weed - didn't expect that (kinda interesting though).

Not necessarily...there are no standards established yet as to what constitutes a dose, and then of course, the strength will vary from strain to strain depending upon a variety of factors. Another consideration is the tolerance level of the person ingesting the THC.

Medical Marijuana: Inhalation vs. Edibles ? Why is it so different?

You have a choice as to how you want to take medical marijuana. You can inhale marijuana either through smoking it or through a vaporizer. Of course the healthier option is the vaporizer as there is no irritating smoke. Cannabis experts now discourage smoking the plant as the only real downside to its use is the damage of the smoke to the lining of your lungs. Both methods of inhalation put the active compounds in cannabis directly into your bloodstream, which carries them to your brain where they attach to receptors and cause the well known effects.

You can also eat cannabis in the form of what is called edibles: cookies, brownies, and other food products. When you ingest cannabis, it goes into your intestines, then passes through your liver. Your liver processes THC into a by product called 11-hydroxy-THC, which then travels to the bloodstream and then to your brain. 11-hydroxy THC is thought to be four to five times more potent than regular THC. This is why edibles are known to be more potent when compared to inhaled cannabis. Edibles are also thought to be strong sedatives and many patients use them for treatment of insomnia.

Edibles take from 40 minutes to 1 hour to start working and the peak effect is at 2 hours. The effects last from 6 to 8 hours which is very convenient for those patients who want to sleep or have longer control of pain.

The key to edibles is knowing how much to eat so as to get the best medicinal effect without going overboard. The general rule of thumb is to cut the edible product into 4 pieces (or smaller if you are new to cannabis) and only eat one piece to start. Wait at least one hour. If you feel the effects of the medication, do not eat any more. If you do not feel the effects of the medication, you can eat another piece. There have been patients who unknowingly have ingested too much and have had the unfortunate side effects of feeling ?too high?, nausea, vomiting, and very groggy. If you follow the instructions above you should not have any problems with these side effects.

Whichever method you choose, knowing all of the advantages and disadvantages of the different methods of using cannabis helps you to make the best choice for your health. Many opponents of medical marijuana state that smoking it is unhealthful ? they are right. However you have other options like vaporizers, edibles, and tinctures so that the problems assocoated with the smoke are not an issue.

Wouldn't it better to simmer the vaped weed in the butter first then strain out all nasty ABV? I'm gonna try it soon and plan to make butter first then bake after with the 'special' butter.

Sometimes I do it with a mix of milk and some cream (to up the fat content). I simmer it for half an hour, strain out the solids and add some flavoring. Once it cools you've got a nice milkshake that only has a little bit of a vaped weed taste and is pretty potent. I had one the other day and was 'off my chops' for about 7 hours.

I agree, Cannabutter is a better way to go, since the process binds the THC with the butter.

The first post in this thread, was for people that want to create some quick and dirty ABV brownies (there's nothing too nasty about ABV either).

Cannabutter is a much more lengthy process, and it will smell up the place (which is cool if you - or more importantly, your neighbors, don't mind).

Anyway, for anyone interested, here are a few medical marijuana tutorials for creating Cannabutter:



Here is a detailed cannabutter tutorial, although it uses fresh harvested weed (buds/shake):

This is the most potent cannabutter recipe you'll ever find. I've heard people say you need to use a slow cooker to make cannabutter that takes anywhere from 6-12 hours. The truth is slow-cookers don't have the proper temperature to extract all the THC from you herb, so some of your bud will be going to waste.

As I'm sure that you're aware, water starts to evaporate at any temperature above melting point. The speed at which water will evaporate is dependent on the temperature (the higher the temperature, the fast it will evaporate). Similarly, butter will also evaporate, but it is a slower process and requires a much higher temperature.

With that being said, the heat from a light simmer will be below the evaporation threshold for butter, so the butter & THC will stay in the pot while the only thing evaporating is the water. Furthermore, a light simmer is the ideal temperature to extract all the THC from 10-28 grams in an hour or less. If you are planning on using 2 ounces (56 grams), you should cook at a light simmer for an hour and a half.

Now for the the good stuff.

First, never use margarine; margarine has no fat. THC is fat-soluble so you'll need to use actual butter so the THC can be absorbed into the fat.

Second, you'll need to cook at a light simmer as explained above. Stir very regularly; every 2-4 minutes will result in ideal potency.

Next, use cheesecloth to strain out any bud leafs. If you don't you'll have small, but very noticeable, herb leafs in your butter (you can still bake with little herb leafs in it, but it doesn't look appetizing).

Simply put, you'll start with 454 grams of butter and when you're done you'll have around 400 grams of cannabutter or 400 ml (1 gram = 1 ml); some butter will be lost when you bring the water and butter to a boil before adding your herb-between 25 & 40 grams of butter will be lost-and a very little bit of cannabutter will not completely separate from the water.

If you don't cook at a simmer, and decide to keep the herb, water and butter at a higher temperature to speed up the process, your yield will be anywhere from 150-300 grams of actual cannabutter.

Yeah. I don't go to as much fuss as in the picture tho. Just grind the vaped weed down to a powder with a cheap electric coffee/herb grinder, throw it in with milk and thick cream in a small pot on stove. Simmer for at least half hour, stirring occasionally. Then run it through cheesecloth or a coffee filter or similiar. Done!

It will smell a bit. Not really a pot smell if it's already vaped. I use my range hood on full and try to cook a curry or something at the same time.
