Wow! I'm getting old. I was writing for a music magazine and remember actually getting advanced copies of Nirvana's Nevermind when it first came out 20 years ago. I went to see them shortly after the release when they played for a crowd of about 250 people. About a year later they were one of the biggest bands in the world.

When you make a list of the records that fundamentally changed the direction of the music industry and rock N roll Nevermind has to be on it.

I saw Nirvana in the Oakland Coliseum on New Years eve 1993! What a show.

I remember him sticking up for this woman too! What a trip.

Not too far off. It was at a place called the Pine Street Theater. In the Northwest the had a small following based on their first record and playing around town. Nevermind got released and they played a handful of local gigs to try some of the new songs out. The place was small and 250 people was probably about half capacity. It was in the middle of the week. I remember them being just the right amount of sloppy and powerful.
