Fucking Auto Insurance is a RIP OFF!

I bought a toy car last year, cost me $3k. I drive it MAYBE 500 miles a year, just sits in my garage, I dick around with it, blah blah blah. Worth about $1,800 blue book on a good day. Its a 1993 Eagle Talon TSi

Just looked at my car insurnace info and they charge me $700 a year for insurance I looked around today at three other companies and they are all about the same +/- $100

WTF? I dont want any coverage on the car, just the state required. If i crash it, its gone or i will try and find parts to fix it. Of course if I hit someone, I need that insurance. I've never had an accident (that was my fault or went through insurance), tickets or anything else (knock on wood).

Fuck, and the annoying part is my 7 series BMW is only $300 more every 6 months and worth 53 times that!

I had a 93 eclipse gsx back in the day. I frickin loved that car. Have you done any mods to it?

Do you just have liability on the car? $700 bucks a year seems expensive if thats the case. I pay $49 bucks a month on a 2003 Silverado, full coverage with a $250 deductable. My wife pay $56 a month for a 2007 Altima with $250 deductable and she drives 25k+ miles a year.

Yeah, there are a few. I bought it from someone who put a lot of work into it, 16b turbo, nice blowoff valve, exhaust, suspension, SMIC. Im looking to ditch the SMIC and put in a nice beefy front mount intercooler instead. Plus I ripped out the interior to run new speaker wires and install all new equipment. The old stuff, which isnt stock, its blow out for all but 1 speaker.

My premium for 3 cars and my house is $170/mo. $500 deductible on the BMW and Tahoe, I think I have no coverage on the Talon. All cars put on low mileage since I work from home and wifey works 5 miles away.

Fucking annoying I piss away 1/2 the value of that car a year in insurance

You can get non opperational insurance, and when you plan on driving it call your agent and tell them you need 1-2 days of insurance.. they do offer this...

My buddy has a car that sits in his garage and he does this when he needs to go get repairs done on it and it will be driven on the road..

Modified car insurance expects you to drive like a loony and wipe out a bus stop full of people.

Insurance has always been a rip off. I haven't had an accident in since I was sixteen. My insurance should be dirt cheap at this point.

That is a bitch, I don't drive my 350z roadster much, maybe 2000 miles a year so it works out to about $0.65 a mile just for insurance, but well worth it during our short summer months.

I had a 91 tsi awd way back when I was young and loved it! That's one of the cars I regret selling.

I'm tempted to jump on board and bag on the insurance companies like everyone else, but one other thing to consider is that you might want to throw some if not most of the blame for high rates on all the idiots out there making false claims on their insurance which ultimately drives up rates for everyone.

Talk to any long-time claims adjuster and they'll tell you just what a bloody horrror story it is with assholes getting away with all sorts of fraudulent claimage.

Btw $700 bucks is pretty cheap by today's rates, at least from what I know of it. Try buying a new vehicle and see what they'll soak you for insuring it. Here where I am you're looking at $1200-$1500/yr easy.
