need to make sure the dog isn't going to go ballistic over all the fucking around here, and that the dog won't chew all my stuff up if I need to split for 1/2 a day... not really sure I want a big ass dog in the caddy... not really looking for unconditional love either to be honest... I'm not lonely... just thought it might be cool to have a roommate that would bark if zombies came by etc..

I've had a couple of pound puppies. Be sites to research the breed(s) to learn about temperment and such and get that's a good match for you. An older dog typically won't tear stuff up like a puppy would, but you may well have some of that.

this is really good advice. as fucked up as it is, you can kinda test drive till you find one you like. i picked up mine from a rescue organization, but he was only 6 weeks old. been by my side ever since. but even though he was only 6 weeks, i think he had some rough times and hasn't let go of them, i can only imagine what a 2-3 year old might have

with a dog that's already got a 'history' there can be issues - he/she could have had some bad times and just like people animals can be majorly fucked up by how they were treated when they were young. sometimes at shelters they know a lot about a dog, other times they only know what they've observed about the dog since he's been at the shelter.

if you're staying out in that big home in the country i'd definitely look for a 4 legged roommate or two

We had several different dogs when I was a kid and all but one of them were older rescue dogs that we got from the pound.

Like others say the great part of it is that most of them are already housebroken and you know what you are getting so you don't do like a friend of mine and get a puppy that you think is going to grow up to be about a 30-40 pound dog and end up with a 110 pounds beast

I would highly encourage you to do it. Just make sure to ask if the dog has had any shots and if they know about any medical issues the dog has. Otherwise, just spend a little time with the dog, take it out in the parking lot by the building and walk with it, try to see what kind of personality it has and what its energy level is and if you can work with that.

Also ask about the situation the dog came from. If it was badly abused and you have kids it might not be a good dog to have around because it might spook easy and nip. You will find a lot of those dogs are simply dogs that people no longer can care for so they dump them at the pound.

the guy in the guest house has a dog but it's a misserable peice of shit of a dog... hoping with me getting a dog it will settle that fuck head down in back.... the guy is all for it.. total dog nut... so I'm kinda looking around. not 100% sold but like I say I am hitting the dog jails

I have 3 dogs, and they make me very happy. Yes, I have to pick up after them, and I have to pay for the vet bills and such, but they are very sweet and love me and my family to death.

have you ever had a puppy? They are usually a nightmare.. you have to be on them CONSTANTLY at first. You can train them to go to the bathroom outside and use the bell within a few hours sure, but you also have to remember they have to go like ever 45 minutes so if you had dinner plans you might as well order in!

Obviously crates help but if they piss and shit in there how will that make you feel after cleaning that out?

Say no to puppies unless you are full out committed to having one, because they are not just fun, they are a serious handful!

We just picked up a curly coated retriever recently. About as easy as a puppy transition can go, but it still changed our lives up a whole lot for the last 5 months...

that's not true at all.. if its not trained properly it will chew until its teeth fall out. Most people wont keep a dog in their house if they can't do that so that's why you probably haven't seen any older dogs do it..

this dog will be with my when i'm shooting content. one issue is tripping over rover when I'm moving lights and shit around, another is all the fucking... might drive the dog crazy? can't have a dog barking or walking around in the videos... need to be very clear about what i'm doing with this one..
