Need some advice on setting up a very specific type of wordpress site
I have done countless wordpress setups but this new project is out of my scope.
I need to do a few very specific things. I have one product to sell and it's a download. I also want to provide a support forum for anyone who buys the product. So, ideally I need a paypal/cart solution integrated with a wordpress register/login solution that also plays well with a forum. Here's the scenario } Buyer visits site, pays for download and then receives download link along with support forum credentials. I have been googling all day and found some nice solutions that do a couple of the things but not all 3. Any ideas? I like the way eStore provides encrypted download links and works with paypal but has anyone here used it? I don't mind paying for a solution I KNOW is going to work.

Simple. The forum and download are available only to paying customers? Pretend for a moment that the download is a video file. It's not, I know, but just pretend for a moment.
Then you would have a site that allows only paying customers to download the video and access the other content (the forum, etc.) That's called a pay site. It doesn't matter if the download is a video, a software program, or a spreadsheet. It's really just a pay site. So how do you integrate secure protection for your content on a pay site that uses Wordpress? Same as on a pay site that doesn't use Wordpress - Strongbox. The Strongbox plugin for Wordpress takes care of letting Wordpress know who the user is. How do they pay? Paypal, CCBill, whatever you want, Strongbox works with any of them and makes it totally transparent to Wordpress. There's no need to integrate payment and CMS content (Wordpress) because you let Strongbox take care of figuring out if they are a paid user and informing Wordpress. |
