If you register domains, then you're dealing with people who deal with .xxx

-Depend on response from community, for example i wish if i could boycott everyone who doing business with manwin but in that case i would probably left with almost zero partners
I will not host my stuff on servers offering to host those domains.
-Again depend on response from community
I will not use sponsors which tolerates resellers to advertise using those domains
-That i can concur fully
I will no trade traffic.

I'm not buying any .xxx domains;
- I don't like how ICM has conducted its business in the past.
- Based on what I see as the risks (ICM's previous conduct, IFFOR policies and how they may or may not evolve, potential tld wide blocking at the country/isp level,...) involved; it's not worth it (based on how I run my business).
- price.

I admit I'm looking forward to seeing other adult tlds like .sex or .porn getting the approval. When they do and if their operators don't make the same mistakes ICM made, I'm sure I'll be buying some of those .sex or .porn domains. Free market competition between those new adult tlds will also reduce the risk of a "slippery slope" scenario.

Will I ever move away from my .com domains? Hell no, they're making me money.

Will your registrar offer .xxx and will you stop using them because of it?

you will have to move all your domains to a registrar that does not sell .xxx which is going to be difficult for you.

I'm pretty much of the opinion that anyone at this point in time who gets an .xxx domain and actually develops it is an asshole. I try not to do business with assholes because I tend to get screwed a lot less with this policy.

With .xxx the real fun begins if it is ever made mandatory and people with 10 year old keyword .com's find that the .xxx version has been taken by someone else. I expect lawsuits all over the place. Although I realize a certain segment will say tough shit you should have got a trademark it's not the same when you are being told you can no longer use the .com version or any other tld and that you must use .xxx.

Taking a stand for something you believe in honorable. I would never fault someone for that, and frankly, I love to see that type of thing and wish it happened more often.

But, don't shoot yourself in the foot. You're segregating yourself from a very large portion of business and will make things extremely difficult for yourself when taking such a wide stance. Being against .xxx and those with the domains who develop them just to try and destroy the .com presence of someone else seems reasonable. But, to be against anyone who bought a .xxx domain, even if it's just to protect their .com or the future possibility of .xxx taking off, seems too broad a stance.

You will never know everyone that owns a .xxx and may be doing business with people that do already. So fight on, just don't ruin your own means of making a living while doing so. My

That's pretty much my stance, I'm not interested in over-priced domains but certainly not going to hurt my business if you think they work for you and we have business to be done.

There seems to have been 50 mil + already spent on registrations of .xxx. I highly doubt people are not going to use them.

I admit I know very little about this but isn't the big question how Google will treat them? Or is that already known?

The big question is given that they're donating $10 from every registration to not-for-profit IFFOR, could this be for any other reason than to try to gain a monopoly i.e. getting adult banned on .coms and then becoming the Microsoft of the Adult Industry? Once we're all stuck to .XXX with no competition, they can set their prices sky high and there would be nothing we could do about it other than leave the industry

This $10 is an investment in bringing about the monopoly, they're not giving their money away because they care; it is to gain influence. They would NEVER admit that's the real agenda behind the donations as that would make it illegal

I've already seen people reading about .xxx for the first time and responding with "They should make all porn sites use .xxx". Seems to be a logical knee jerk reaction kind of thought for a lot of people unconnected to our industry.

Going to be interesting indeed.

I think it's a great idea, but take it farther, were is this XXX money going to, who in adult sponsors or pushes XXX that does not run a pay site? Does AVN accept XXX ads, we know what X-Biz does...

I've learned that the people complaining about the pirate tubes were right. Take a look around. 90% of the industry has been hurt when prior to 2007 we were all growing our revenues. Even the big guys are selling and getting out. Many of them left between 2008 and 2010. Sure Manwin has all the traffic but that's exactly what we said would happen. They get richer for a time while everyone else slowly gets poorer.

<insert 500 comments here from content producers and others who have been reduced to kissing ass in public just to hold on for another year>

And there's a good chance that we're right about .xxx too and that thy will attempt to make it mandatory. You'd be a fool to discount that. I wonder what would have happened in 2007 if every sponsor and affiliate who went out of business between now and 2007 would have taken a stand? Maybe it's justice that some of those gone are the ones who didn't do jack shit to stop it.

I only do business with a small group of business people, anyway, none of which would touch .xxx so it's not a concern with me. As to registrars and hosting companies, I'm not aware of any that won't be dealing with .xxx. Not much I can do on that front.

I'll answer honestly, I bought lilcandy.xxx no idea yet if I will be using, but I bought it for two reasons, 1. so it wouldn't be snatched up by somebody else. 2. In case someday it is mandatory. my sites all run on .com and those are not going to change unless it's out of my control. I bet the huge mega companies have all bought .xxx weather they tell you or not, and I'm sure they plan on using them.

I'm not interested in .xxx at this point. That may change, but I don't see the value in them currently. If porn is banned on .com there will be options. .xxx isn't the only one.

And unfortunately ICM was counting on that and it worked in many many cases.

@signupdamnit: so if you would have known then, what you would know now, would you have started a tubesite?

Basically you are saying this could be the next big thing. And i agree, it could.

Should i be against it, or roll with it?

I think instead of being all tight up about it i will bet on both horses. The downside would be losing a couple thousand on domains. The upside, well...

If we all do this guess what will happen ?
You won't but people who will are ten a penny.

You forget that the average 'adult webmaster' is a spammer and .xxx is just another string to a spammers bow.

You must understand. The way I read what you have asked of me is not much different than "If you knew you could get away with robbing a bank, would you?" and the answer to that is that I am not a thief.

That sounds about right. Dot XXX is going to fade into a dot info level of obscurity and uselessness in a year or two. They're going for the money grab right now. It won't be sustained.

Unless internet lawmakers band together on an international level and make .xxx mandatory (rofl!), I'll stick with coms, nets and orgs.

I'll deal with anyone who decides to grab a .xxx version of my main sites if the situation arises, but I won't be transferring my domains from DirectNic.

And, like most average "adult webmasters", they'll fail. Constantly buying new domains, spamming hundreds of sites, constantly getting blacklisted... I don't have the energy or attention span for that.

Just like .info, .xxx sites will pop up in the rankings, then vanish just as quickly. Meanwhile, the ten and twelve year old .coms and .nets will chug along just fine.

A well known asshole uses STOLEN content to build massive tube sites that devastate the industry then asks said industry to help him fight a threat to his profitability ..... Fucking unreal.
