$1300 gas bill

well no more heating the pool and that's a fact... it was great while it lasted though so lets see what the Jacuzzi does to my wallet... 30 deg outside, the Jacuzzi was 60 deg and I'm bringing it up to 104 deg for a nice xxxmass morning dip....

Yeah, I used to heat my pool in the winter too, until I realized I was paying $1500-$2000 a month and used the pool 3-4 times.

Told ya to just use the jacuzzi!

Could have gotten a hotel with an indoor heated pool for a few nights for a hell of a lot cheaper. Lol

The steam coming off the water is just money evaporating. Easy to spend more heating a pool than the house it's attached to

I was told by the Dr to swim every day, and that's what I was doing. the issues have been the cover broke, down for a week and it was a major cost to run the pump and heater for 4 days straight to bring it back up... then the fucking pool computer locked up and the pool dropped back to 65 deg. it's a 40K gallon pool. couldn't run the heater for another 4+ days straight to bring it back up. right now the pool is 60 deg

Swim drunk and you won't even notice. There are down-sides, however.

A public pool has less risk than some of the girls people shoot. Just kidding... But chemicals do make them safe.

Is that for the year?

We don't pay that for the year and we need heating for half the year. My brother lives in mission Viejo and his house hardly ever needs air-con, it's built to keep the heat out. Except in the middle of summer.

Just a thought. You live in Socal, why not heat it with the panels that go on the top of the house? Or go straight for Solar Panels?

Are they that expensive there?

Better deal

I used to belong to the health club at the most expensive hotel in town. $350 a year. Open every day. Had an outdoor heated pool you entered by way of a indoor poor and went swam a tunnel. Club was open 365 as hotel open 365 for guests.

$15,600 to heat a pool. You must be some kind of millionaire to spend that.

Ever thought of doing a deal with the owner to install solar panels? Loads of new houses here have them and in Socal it seems the most sensible thing to do. Sun shines all the time.

you ever looked into a solar heater? I don't own a pool so haven't looked into it, but it has to be more economical than $1300 a month.

Right, he heats his pool all year long, even during the summer months.

Are you thinking outside the box again, Paul?

the cover keeps the pool around 90+/- in the summer... if the cover hadn't broken and the pool controller went out I could have probably keep the heat going, but once the pool dropped to 60-65 deg that was it... cost over $1000 the first time for the cover issue... couldn't spend another $1000. pretty much all my cash surplus is going to the IRS right now...

Heating costs is the #1 reason I didn't buy a house with a pool or a jacuzzi... My electric/gas bills so far have all been under $350 and I'm happy with that. I would be super pissed if I had to pay to heat/clean/fix a pool I'd literally never use.

just use the damn pool... I did almost everyday, now I use the jacuzzi almost everyday.. fuck it

my elctric bill is $500+/- not using the heat or air... using either for extended times takes the bill to $1000+/-... gas bill was $35, but the master suite is gas heated while the rest of the house is electric, and since this house was built in 1983 there are energy leaks like a mofo..
